I wouldn't put up with that. Perhaps I'd go for a joint and we each had our own, but no way would I allow a joint account and hers. Marriage is a partnership, not a matriarchy.

we have a joint account & i have my own. neener neener neeners!! ;)

in all seriousness, it's mostly cuz the child support goes into mine which is to be used for the boys so it's not really an issue.

The ones that frustrate me the most are the older couples who had prior marriages and want to keep their finances separated. (Heaven forbid that the child of one of them gets money that the other's child just might inherit.)
I have seen were the adult kids of the wealthier person are the ones who put up the biggest fuss.
Some times I have to break down how much each car costs to insure and they write two checks. The fun part is the house. Can't divide that very well.

I never understood why people do this kind of stuff. Is an ex really worth going to jail over? Men are just as guilty, if not more, of this kind of stuff.
