I think I'm starting to run out of good 2D RPGs to play. I'll provide a list of RPGs I HAVE played, and if any of you enjoyed another RPG I didn't list I'll take a look into it and hopefully play it. Yes, this list is very SNES/Nintendo heavy. It's what I grew up with. My limited experiences with 3D turn-based RPGs has been very poor, but tend to like 3D action/adventure RPGs. I don't like fancy special effects, I like solid, intuitive gameplay. Any suggestions?

"Action"/Adventure RPGs
ActRaiser (SNES)
SoulBlazer (SNES)
Illusion of Gaia (SNES)
Terranigma (SNES)
Star Ocean (SNES)
Secret of Mana (SNES)
Seiken Densetsu 3 (SNES)
The Legend of Zelda (NES)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64)
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (GCN)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCN)

Turn-Based RPGs
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom (SNES)
Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals (SNES)
Final Fantasy 6/3US (SNES)
Earthbound (SNES)
Super Mario RPG (SNES)
Golden Sun (GBA)

Strategy RPGs
Front Mission (SNES)
Bahamut Lagoon (SNES)
Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen (SNES)
Ogre Battle 64 (N64)
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (PSX)
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis (GBA)
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (GBA)

Games I started playing but disliked the battle system to the point of not being able to finish it
Tales of Phantasia (SNES)
Star Ocean: The Second Story (PSX)

Games I know I should play but haven't/won't
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Final Fantasy __ (Misc)

And yes, I used to play Pokemon. Some asshole stole all my Gameboy/GBA games, and I have refused to re-purchase any of them since. I played everything up until Crystal. Christ, I've played a lot of RPGs. Need MORE!

Nice list man!

I suggest the Zelda game for the GBAdvance (also playable on the Nintendo DS).. I can't for the life of me remember what it's called.. Oh, The Minish Cap!

Hmm.. I'll think up other ones later.

Aww no Chrono Trigger or FFVII? That's too bad. I never played too many 2D RPG's so I can't say.

I see that you're not into turn based stuff, but you ought to give Final Fantasy VII a shot some time. Might still be my favorite game all time. Truly amazing.

Have you tried the Fallout series of games on the PC? I really had a lot of fun with them.

Final Fantasy VII is the freaking awesomeness! I've played the game three times from start to finish. The first time I played it, ... wasted 67 hours of my life. I went through the game again five or so years after that and got the time down in half. Then I bought the strategy guide and I have the entire soundtrack of all the music in the game. One of my cats name ... take a guess. 🙂

You could always call your firstborn Red XIII if Could Strife won't go through with the mommy.
