Has Barbre even been THAT bad since the Bears game? He hasn't exactly been standing out as bad these past 2 games.

maybe a play here and there but that's football.

Gave up another 2 sacks today.

Compared to the Bears game - his play is better. But that should tell you how bad he played against Chicago, as opposed to the progress he has made overall.

He got beat badly by a 30+ year old DE who most people say is on the downside of his career against Chicago. I dread what someone like Jared Allen will do if Barbre has another stinker like that.

His play has improved, but he is still sub-par. It isn't even coming close to the play needed from a RT on a team with playoff aspirations.

I only seen the 2nd sack. I feel Rodgers was holding onto the ball too long. He needs to learn to get it out.

It just seems like we are taking big shots down field, and that can really exploit any problems you have on an OLine.

Allen will lineup on Colledge and Edwards will lineup on Barbre.

There is no doubt that the tackle situation hasn't been addressed. I know the pass protection gets all the hype, but the run blocking is just as bad. To be fair, Green Bay did attempt to find a veteran backup along the offensive line. At 6-5 and over 300 pounds, Preston has the size to be a tackle, but he didn't workout.

I think it's more so poor evaluation on the part of the front office and coaching staff than it is a lack of effort.

The thing he says about Breno is what I've preached for so long about the Packers. Thompson doesn't believe in veteran depth. I suppose we end up getting some solid starters after sticking with some young guys for longer than most teams would, but that's why we feel the burn of the injury bug even harder. We don't have experienced back-ups who can handle their own when they get tossed into the game. We sign a couple veterans per offseason, but these guys are no different than the ones we draft (high upside, limited experience). Guys like Smith and Walker over the last couple years. Preston was the one exception, but he was just pure garbage.
Ted Thompson NEEDS to spend more effort in bringing in experienced players now especially with the team already turning the corner and hitting it's first Super Bowl window. Once Charles, Al, Chad, and Driver leave, it could be a problem replacing those players. Basically, now is not the time to skimp on low-cost veterans who can fill in for you when you need them. (It's also one of the reasons that maybe our ST isn't THAT great. Young guys = more mistakes)

Thanks for posting, I agree McGinn is an interesting read.

I suspect he's pretty pissed that his pre season prediction of 12-4 and a Superbowl berth is now looking way out. (He's been spot on the last 2 years and now it's going to screw up his record).

Why the **** do we have an OT with a 11 Wonderlic? This is NO position for a stupid person. DT, yes. WR, yes. OT, no.
Ted Thompson should have his head examined. If I was a GM and saw that Wonderlic score, there's no way in hell I'd grab him. An OT has no business being in this league with an 11 Wonderlic score.

EDIT: An FYI. Average OT Wonderlic score is 26. Just in case you're wondering. An 11 is barely literate, and has no business protecting our beloved Aaron.

That's one of my main concerns, but Thompson doesn't put any stock in Wonderlic scores, I think. Now, obviously, you don't need smart players at every position, but I sure prefer a Chad Clifton or Chris Long (?) over an Andre Smith or Allen Barbre.

People tend to dismiss smarts, but just look at VY or Michael Vick against Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning. Even if you don't look at how they played, it's still pretty obvious when you look at off the field behaviour.

Since it's conventional wisdom that Mark Tauscher is coming back, I think it's fairly safe to say he won't be. 😉
