Feelings are funny and over the course of the last week Packer nation, including myself, has gone through a slew of feelings about the 2009 Green Bay Packers. About this time last week, I started to get a bad vibe about the Packers' approach against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This might not of been the genesis of this vibe, but it was enough to put me over the top. I felt there was more than a 50% chance that Green Bay would lose to either Cincinnati or St. Louis. I talked a little bit about it in my last entry and I shall expand more in this one. full article.

very good read porky. And can only agree in that i got over excited. And i was thinking of the Superbowl and MVP and stuff like that.

Hopefully bringing them down a beg or 5 will make them think about everygame more and not about the final destination.

Because things can still go 15-1...i doubt it but things could go our way if things have really changed from Sundays fiasco!

Another good article Porky. regarding your final point about mccarthy and his stubbornness. I think it goes a little deeper than that. I can see the stubbornness on display a lot, but when it comes to abandoning the run or pass, sticking to certain schemes when they're not working, etc, I think it's his fatalistic mentality that comes into play. It's the mindset that "if we're gonna go down, we're gonna go down in flames". I hate that.

Nice read, Porky.

You are so right, McCarthy is one stubborn man. And as far as the "buzz" factor goes, and the Packers players and head coach buying into said buzz. My hope for one thing, if nothing more, is that however all parties involved felt about where they were prior to Cincy, that their focus on the Rams is undying!

Sorry if that last part made no sense, it's just hard for me to get all of my thoughts out, and have them make sense at the same time. :pukeright:

i just hope the Packers can play better now that the expectations are lower. I think the hype might of been to much and they just thought the win would come from anywhere.

Roll on Sunday please. I do have a good feeling and after hearing what rodgers was saying after practice and talking about the whole offense being one. I think it it was the kick in the ass they need!

Good take, porky--evenhanded as always and with some insights that had not occurred to me. I hope that the O-line's poor performance can mostly be based on overconfidence and that it has not suffered a serious collapse. It will be very interesting to see what happens in St. Louis.

Thanks for the comments everyone

The offensive line is going to take time to fix. It's not just an overconfident type of thing with that group. It's actually the decisions that have been made starting back to 2006 that is the cause of this. McCarthy opted to go with the zone blocking scheme which is fine, when it works.

Thompson has drafted players to fit that scheme. Unfortunately he's missed at tackle where he's drafted guards and tried to stick them outside which is just ridiculous on his part. Green Bay lacks the strength on the outside to win the one and one battles. McCarthy's offense or specifically the passing game depends on that in a lot of ways.

The best solution to the offensive line woes is

1. Running Game so the defenders can't tee off on Rodgers.

2. Dink and Donk so the coordinator opts to call off the blitz.

Of course it depends on the team they're playing. I think the Packers should do better against St. Louis. Spagnulo doesn't have the right guys in place to do what he wants.
