Cris Collinsworth prompted a chortle from Phil Simms when he put Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers No. 5 on his list of the top five quarterbacks in the National Football League.

Collinsworth and his colleagues, Simms and Warren Sapp, on Showtime's "Inside the NFL," were asked to name the top three quarterbacks in the league after Peyton Manning of Indianapolis and Tom Brady of New England.

Collinsworth picked Drew Brees of New Orleans, Ben Roethlisberger of Pittsburgh and Rodgers.

"I think Aaron Rodgers by the end of this season will have monster numbers," Collinsworth said. "Monster numbers."

Simms could not understand how Collinsworth could put Rodgers in the top five because the question was who are the top five right now.

"How can you put him in the top five in this league after one year?" Simms said.

When Collinsworth said he was "projecting" Rodgers in the top five by the end of the season, Simms called him "Carnac."

Sapp picked Brees, Donovan McNabb of Philadelphia and Tony Romo of Dallas. Simms took Romo, Roethlisberger and Brees.

Aaron no doubt will put up MVP numbers. Unfortunately, Drew Brees will ruin Aaron's MVP campaign due to making up for the incompetence of the Saints' so called "defense".

Yes he is, I think you are right Brees is going to win the MPV but Rodgers will go this year to the Pro Bowl.

Where on earth is Phillip Rivers on those lists? Roethlisberger over Rivers? McNabb over Rivers? Is this supposed to be a list of QBs who are great at this point, or a list of QBs who have done things in the past?

I can see their argument that you can't put Rodgers on there after one year. Just look at Ryan Grant. I think he'll prove himself to be an elite QB this year, though.

And I love Collinsworth. This prediction just added a little to it.

Good question about Rivers, Rockmolder. I think Brees is in the top three along with Brady and Manning, and Rivers and Roethlisberger are probably four and five. Rodgers is not too far behind, though, along with Romo. I don't think McNabb is in the top five anymore, though he was for a couple of years, before the injuries.

If I had to rate top 1 to 10 would look like this

1. P manning (ability to see and process the game)
1. Brady (Mr. Cool in the clutch)
E
2. Big Ben (2 superbowl wins wills his team to win)
3. Brees (The lil engine that could)
4. Romo ( Great reg season numbers has trble in playoffs)
4. E manning (has a SB ring but very good game manager)
4. Rivers (Not quite sure he is elite but he is paid like it)
5. Rodgers (on the cusp of greatness in second year)
6. Flacco (determination and guts)
7. M Ryan (brought Falcons out of the Vick ages)
I am therefor I think.

Rating QBs, to me is who would I want if I was starting a team. Not what they are with the teams they have.

P. Manning
Brees
Brady
Rivers
Rodgers
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Wonder how many people would have had Cutler on their lists before last week?

Seriously, Aaron is rising with a bullet on these charts. Can't believe Romo still garners that kind of support. IMHO he has more to prove than Rodgers given his consistent late season meltdowns.

I just can't see McNabb or Romo in any one's top 5 list.

On the other hand, Rodgers is a bit of a stretch... but if our offensive line holds up, who knows?

Yes Phillip Rivers needs to be on those lists. How can Romo be on there when he can't even win a playoff game.
