I just wanted to thank the Bears Coaching staff (or whoever made the call) for the fake punt. It almost made up for the bad ref calls on Sunday.

Here is a video from Bob Mantz's blog. Notice the Ref at 17s:

This was on the long snapper. He saw Clay Matthews running off the field and tried to snap it to the RB real quick to try and get a penalty for 12 men on the field.

I remember them showing the replay of the LS pointing to the RB from between his legs, so that he would know. Apparently, the RB didn't get that memo. HA.

But I also thank the person in charge of this 🙂 .

Actually it was the long-snapper who made the decision. As Collinsworth guessed during the game, the punt team had been instructed to run a fake punt anytime the receiving team had 12 men on the field. The only problem was that the 12th player got off the field a couple seconds before the snap.

But mistakes like that are ultimately the head coach's fault, in a way. Trying to get too cute. After watching McCarthy get outcoached by Lovie for the past few years, it was nice to see Lovie outcoach himself.

I would like to thank Lovie for challenging the fumble in the endzone and instead of being placed on the 4 yard line....we were rightfully placed on the 1...

Thank you Lovie Smith. Co MVP of the Green Bay Packers "W" on Sunday night.

Actually, it was a good call on the part of da Bears. I will defend Smith here. The fault was in the execution. The RB took too long to pay attention. If he had been paying attention, we get penalized for 12 men on the field and they keep the drive going. Completely different ballgame.

So neither the long snapper nor Smith are the goats here. It's the fault of the RB.

It was 4th and 11 how does a 5 or 10 yard penalty change ne thing when u are that deep in the hole. Smart play is snap ball to ur punter then challenge. Cause what if GB muffs it.
I am therefor I think.

I wouldn't solely blame the long snapper. During that replay, they also showed the upback pointing to the sideline.

The long snapper saw Matthews heading off, but you can't expect him to be able to watch the guy all the ways to the sideline. I believe it is the up backs responsibility to watch and stop the quick snap if he sees the guy clear the field.

What I like to thank Lovie for, is Challenging a play. Losing the challenge, and giving up better field position. That was priceless. Lot better odds for Grant from the 1 than the 3.

Mucky Tundra (3h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (3h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (3h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.

packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.

Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Or if KC needs to win for the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Right now it looks like the only prime worthy games are Det-Minny and KC-Denver (if Denver can clinch a wild card spot)
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : The entirety of week 18 being listed as flex is weird
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Matt LaFleur today says unequivocally "Ted Thompson had nothing to do with the drafting of Jordan Love."

Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : LaFleur "opportunity that Ted Thompson thought was too good to pass up"
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Jordan Love pick was Ted Thompson's idea.

Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : a lower case b
