If I weren't such a fan of Aaron Rodgers, I would almost hope that you people clamoring for Tauscher would get a taste of your own medicine. People, he won't even be cleared to play until October! How can you possibly imagine he'd truly be better than Barbre out of the gate? Yes, Clifton had a few surgeries last year, but at least he went through camp and the preseason. Tauscher has done absolutely nothing with the team. There's no way the Packers will just be able to slip him in there like a jigsaw puzzle piece and expect him to excel.

Bear in mind, no other team has offered him a contract either. Ask yourself why.

I was thinking the same thing. If NOBODY has picked up Tauscher, he's gotta be pretty f****** up (physically).

Football destroys the body. The statistics of NFL players who are legally handicapped ten years after retiring are outrageous. It's almost painful to watch some of these guys walk. My youngest brother was named after Earl Campbell, one of the most exciting runners I've ever watched, and that guy's in a wheelchair.

OL have it even worse. These guys pound and pound all day long with 300+ pound bodies. Their legs become jello after retiring. I'm fearing Tauscher's in pretty bad condition if nobody's picked him up yet. Hope I'm wrong for his sake.

I thought there were two major problems on offense. One has been addressed countless times, and was the O-line, Barbre in particular. The other was the play calling. McCarthy REALLY struggles to get the O into a rhythm when they aren't in one immediately. If the run game isn't working, he completely abandons it. If it is, he relies on it too heavily. A nice balance, some rhythm to the play calls, is ALL I'm asking for, and there was none of it Sunday night.

p.s. YOU NEED TO ESTABLISH THE RUN TO WORK THE PLAY ACTION.

A Couple of notes on Tauscher..

1) He worked at the Packer facility all during his rehab, they will know a hell of a lot better than anyone if he is ready.

2) We have the softest part of the schedule ahead of us.. so that byes us some time to either work the kinks out with Barbre or get someone ready to go by the time the schedule gets a little more stout.

3) 8 to 10 Months.. "Do the math" as McCarthy states. Surgery mid December put that time table between August to October.. so can one say with all clarity that it is October?

4) He grew up in these parts, so a lot of the talk circulates around here.. I can tell you that talk say he wants to play in Green Bay and that he is ready to start playing.

5) He knows most of the Packers calls and offense, so it wouldn't take him a ton of time to get ready to back up Barbre if needed.

But the recovery time for that kind of injury is eight to 10 months and that would put his return sometime into the regular season. At some point well before that, the Packers would have to move forward and prepare to replace him as their starting right tackle.

"It's a medical condition. What (was) it, Week 12, Week 13?" McCarthy said of the injury, which occurred against the Houston Texans on Dec. 7. "It's a late injury. You do the math, and you're looking Oct. 1 (at his return). That's what the math tells you.

"Mark would probably tell you differently because he feels great. He's attacked his rehab and he's in there every day. We'll see what happens. Leadership-wise, you can't say enough great things about him. It's a medical condition that's going to make for a tough decision."

Right tackle is the biggest area of concern IMHO. Barbre was horrible and if Rodgers keeps getting hit like he did last night, he won't last the season.

Barbre may have appeared to look better in the 2nd half only because they kept a tight end or running back in to help him.

And why hasn't Thompson re-signed Tauscher? Even at his worst he is ten times what Barbre or Lang are.

you realize tauscher wouldn't be an immediate fix right? he won't be ready to play

This happy horseshit is the source.. fix this breakdown after 4 years will ya.. Apparently it is either the teachers or the students; and since we have ran through more than 20 guys with only a couple sticking.. I am starting to think it might not be the students.

Who am I kidding.. I thought that in the late parts of 07 already.. lol.

On instructing them on fundamentals the entire offseason and then failing in the game:

"It's frustrating. There's no question it's frustrating. The evaluation has to start with yourself too. What did Jerry (Fontenot) and I do this week that was different? Was there anything different? Did we ask them to do too much or not enough? So you look within yourself too because we're obviously an extension of that group too because it's our product out on the field. We'll make the necessary adjustments that we need to make to make sure the fundamentals that were broken down by the whole protection unit, we'll make sure we make those are corrected."
