Secondly do you think the Packers organization will sign him, now he his a free agent so he can retire as a packer (Kind of like what they did with Antonio Freeman)?

I think he will be in the Packers HOF.. no doubt.

But signing him to a one day contract will only come after Green says he is done.. working out for teams yet is a sign that he still wants to play. This wouldn't happen til next season at the earliest.. would be a nice move for the club.

Yeah, the statement Green was the Packers' all-time leading rusher didn't sit right with me. Thanks for bringing out the statistics, Tezzy. I appreciate it.

First of all do you think he deserves to be in the Packers Hall of Fame and have his number retired (I do, hes the packers all time rushing leader!!!!)

"Tezzy" wrote:

Packers Hall of Fame? Yes
Number retired? No

And Green is not the Packer's All-Time rushing leader, that still belongs to Jim Taylor @ 8207 yards with 81 TDs, and Green @ 8162 yards with 53 TDs.

Thanks Tezzy for setting the record straight as Jim Taylor is one of my all time favorite Packer players.

Packers Hall: probable.
NFL Hall: no.
Number retired: most definitely no, probably the last Green Bay Packers number that will be retired in my lifetime will be # 4 and there is no guarantee that it will happen in my lifetime, but it will happen.

A great back - speed and power combination matched by very few and surpassed maybe by Adrian Peterson, although Green was a huge weapon on screen passes.

I agree with most of you, Packer Hall, can't retire his number, and a possible hall of fame in a lean year, although the domestic squabbles won't help him there.

I remember when he left green bay the consensus was he was basically a lock for the packer hall of fame. Don't know what happend to that

He still is for me. There's not a doubt in my mind about him getting into the Packers hall of fame.

Like said before, I doubt that his jersey will be retired. That's more exclusive than getting into the HoF. (Best example, Nelson is still wearing 87) I don't think that he'll get into the HoF either. Maybe if he had two more good years to rack up some stats, instead of being burried somewhere on the depth chart in Seattle or declining so rapidly in Houston.

I am actually uncertain that he is even GB HOF material. He had some gut wrenching fumbles throughout his career. I also remember him failing at 4 and 1 against the Eagles in the playoffs (I thought that was even worse than 4th and 26).

I will admit though, when he was in his prime in the early 2000s, you had to earn a tackle against him and Defensive guys were always getting injured trying to bring him down.

He had a 85 carry to 1 fumble ratio ... the upside was far more gooder. 🙂

Stats are one thing but surely I am not the only one that feels he fumbled at the most inopportune time. Not that Wikipedia is always correct but it says something that fumbles has its own section in his writeup:

Off the top of my head I remember this OT loss to the chiefs:
http://www.packers.com/news/stories/2003/10/12/1/

On the other hand, someone can also find many stories where Favre threw some int's in critical times and no one argues he is a HOF in every sense of the word though.
