Yeah I usually like the 4-5 WR sets cause someone is bound to get open.

I started playing with the dolphins recently lcause I wanted to try out the wildcat. I wish it had more flexibility like the real wildcat. When its a passing play, I can't tuck and run, i have to slowly edge towards line of scrimmage in throwing form before he tucks and run.

Also it doesn't give me an option of whether to keep the ball or hand it off to the reverse guy. Maybe I just need to loook up what buttons I need ot press.

Haven't really played any of the new Maddens.. But I wanted to throw my 2 cents in..

When I did play Madden, I don't actually play the sport within the game. I let the CPU do that (alot of times it's WAY too easy, or the AI cheating thing). I just like to play GM and train all my young guys into All Stars. Then I trade them away for draft picks, and start again. In that process, I found to be able to bring in a few Super Bowl trophies. Mostly, though.. I'm just a playoff team.

To me, the fun is training/trading/drafting. Not the actual game itself (that, and considering that the game the past few years has been buggy).

Agreed - though I usually play the game itself for a little while, it's either way too easy or way too hard (I'm not a big gamer, so there's that), and I get tired of that quickly. Then I move on to Franchise mode and play GM - that's more fun for me in the long run.

I do this a lot as well. (Have a nerdy notebook file full of franchise results, lol) This year, it's a little harder to see everything, though. They took out the weapons (Don't mind it in the game, but it was great to see the strengths of your players in the franchise) and, for some reason, you can't see where your players are drafted. That annoys me bigtime, especially with the amount of late round steals you have now. I just want to gloat when my 7th round FS turns into an elite player.

That said, drafting has become way better. Had some huge problems trying to sign FAs with my cupcake team, but it was more realistic. Having some salary cap problems already, though, as my O-linemen want idiotic amounts of money and the rest of the guys aren't coming too cheap either.

Have any of you played NFL Head Coach 2009? That looked like a great game.

Never played HC '09.. That got waaaaay too detailed for me. lol

I also had a notebook, but more for drafting players. I'd keep notes on players names/positions/etc. before I drafted them. I also did the same when recruiting in NCAA football (which is way funner). I, too, loved being able to turn a late round draft pick into an elite Pro Bowler. Typically took a lot of time, though. lol

Funny, the big problem I had was drafting solid O-linemen. Seriously, never could I draft/train them to be elite. I eventually had to find the team that had a bunch of them (typically it was the Steelers) and either had to out bid them when the players were unrestricted FA, or just all out trade for them. Which typically drained me of my skill positions. At least, until I started getting 2 or 3 elite O-linemen, then, like the Steelers, it became easy to draft/train them.

Okay - I have played about 10 games on all pro and have a couple suggestions. All these are based on NE playbook

1. CPU bitzes a ton on all pro. If you run just screen passes the whole game you can probably win because of how many blitz plays are called. The good news is that screen plays actually work this year mostly due to better animations near the sidelines (your guy doesn't automatically run OOB near the sidelines)

2. The HB direct play out of the shotgun (Twin TE?) is quite effective provided you have an audible if the D is blitzing (which is quite often; see 1). When you run the HB direct, put Driver in motion from the slot and when he reaches near the TE snap the ball so you have an extra blocker.

3. There is a money 5 WR set play (iso something?) where Driver is in the slot running a slant across the middle. I can almost guarantee at least 7yds with this play. Next time I play I will write down the name of the play and how to run it effectively.

its the same thing for me. only i actually played the games, but you're right the fun was definitely in the coaching/gm aspects of the game.

i gave up madden in 96 after they started trying to make everything far too complicated. i didnt care enough to turn the QB's head and pick which shoulder to throw it to all in a split second before a pass.

i don't miss playing at all, i do miss the offseason stuff.

Madden 10 is still missing a huge aspect in the fact there is no "coach" for the comp. All it does is pick a play based on how many RBs WRs and TEs your using. If im feeling bored i can use the same PA play between the 1 and 10 yard line and get a touchdown everytime. The game lacks the knowledge to change up for match ups. to cover the best players more and so on. I traded in Eddie Royal and he is just running rings around any defense alongside Greg Jennings. Fundamental gameplay flaw. Needs to be fixed before the game can be truly authentic
