I was interested to hear that they're trying spencer havner at tight end. Anyone got any more on that?

Havner's long been a dark horse favorite for me. Not much of a chance given the numbers at LB, of course.

I think his willingness to do whatever the team needs him to do, playing every special teams that is asked, and overall for those that comment on him is a high motor guy... I think he has a very legit chance of sticking on this team.

More than once through the first seven days have you heard his name on the special teams.. ala Tracy White whom never had a real chance to play as a backer game in and out.. but still made the team a number of years.

From the twitter updates I've been reading, he has been able to run some routes and get open, but has had some problems with drops in the beginning.

Haven't heared anything about him recently though. Don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

No troubles in that department...

Back to topic..

Hell.. I probably would be more aggressive on the football field than Hawk has shown to date.. the guy has the ability.. that is what is soo frustrating about the cat.. he doesn't play up to it.

I'm putting A.J. in my "Spleen? I don't need no friggin' spleen, take that bitch out, doc, I gotta game to play" Al Harris hero category for a little while longer.

It's a thousand dollar cab ride thing.

Pullin' for ya, A.J.

He was taken at the exact spot he should have been taken, btw.- at 5.

Like I said, weak draft.

I don't have a problem with AJ, but I have a problem with his contract. Is he living up to it? He's an average player so far, but is being payed for much more than his current production.

I get when players outplay their contracts, they should be redone. But the fans should demand redoing an underachieving players contract being done. KGB was my poster child for many years.

Let's try not to jump the gun. As much as underwear OTA's mean now compared to training camp, that is how much training camp will mean compared to the regular season. Let's see what Hawk does this year when the games count and the defensive scheme is completely integrated.

Lets see.. two plus years on tape and the same Hawk in a notably aggressive defensive camp.. I think it speaks volumes.

And the message is you better get your ass in gear AJ.

First he was defended for being hurt, then it was the scheme holding him back.. now what?

In other words.. the kid is missing the fire right now.. or missing something. Maybe he struggles in the mental part of the game or over thinks things.. whatever it is.. he hasn't played to his potential.

I don't think he sucks, isn't talented or what not.. I think he is playing under what he is capable of... either that or he extremely over achieved at OSU.

I look at AJ and the nagging "read and react" hangup he has and equate that to something like an illness. He's had it now for awhile and it is in his system and will probablay take time before he gets over it.

I think he's a good enough athlete and football player to come to terms with this. Pro football players are there because of the things they are able to overcome and my guess is he will progress with time.
