Vikings DE Kenechi Udeze retires..

Kenechi Udeze, the Vikings defensive end who missed last season because of leukemia, has retired.
Coach Brad Childress said today that Udeze, the team's first-round draft choice out (20th overall) in 2004 out of USC, has ended his comeback attempt.

This news bummed me out more than anything that has happened this offseason.

Next Vikings jersey I get is a number 95. I can only hope the rest of the team can use his circumstance as fuel.

And Josdin (you guys know him as the Vikings/Cubs fan) made an AWESOME wallpaper of Kenechi..

Like I said over on PP.O, he wasn't great before his absense and I didn't think he'd be any better after it.

That doens't mean that I don't have a lot of respect for him. He battled a horrible disease and attempted to make a comeback in the NFL. That takes heart and courage. It might've put things in perspective for him. He's certainly going out as a winner.

A good man, for sure. I applaud his decision to focus on his recovery, and I hope he does well.
