Childress: Favre staying retired

Vikings beat reporter Judd Zulgad just received a phone call from Brad Childress who said he talked to Brett Favre and that he was informed that Favre is staying retired

Childress cited the daily grind both mentally and physically as part of the reason why Favre remained retired.

I just think it was a rare opportunity to explore a Hall of Fame quarterback who had background in the NFC and in this division, Childress said. He knows our system inside out This doesnt change anything about how I feel about our football team.

HAHA the vikings were desperate for a qb. I'm glad they aren't getting Favre

Wow.

Seriously, I'll believe it when training camp is over with and the season starts.

I'm kind of ticked because I feel a lot of time was wasted. Then I think, no one forced me to pay as much attention to the Favre saga as I did. I did it on my own for the most part.

Should we be surprised though? Every time we think we know what he's going to do, he does the opposite.

Breaking news : From the HoboGazette

The lawnskeeper at the Favre home has told us that this was all part of the Ted Thompson 5 year plan. Brett and Ted Thompson decided at the retirement that they would put up this big circus and trade him off to the Jets to make it look good. Then they had it set up that he would retire and pretend to goto the Vikings just to disrupt their team for this coming season to help the Green Bay Packers win the division again. Brett and Ted Thompson are currently getting ready to go on vacation together in the Bahamas. More info to come.

:P
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

The real losers here are Sage and Jackson. They both must know that the coaching staff doesn't have confidence in them. That will either light a fire under them to prove them wrong or rattle their confidence. For their sakes I hope it fires them up. For our sake I hope for the latter.

My sadistic side was hoping that Brett would leave the Vikings up in the air for awhile longer before bailing out on them.

With Favre retired, what do we do now? Oh wait, now we can all start wondering when he will announce that he is reconsidering his decision and would really like to play again after all. Maybe the week before the season starts. Unlikely, but by no means out of the question. Especially if the Viking QB's play badly in the preseason.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
