Darn, I didn't see that there was already a thread about this.
It's been seven years now since the Raiders went to a Super Bowl. They should've gone to another one the year before but lost the Tuck Rule Game to the Patriots. Still, the fact is that they got drubbed in the one Super Bowl they did appear in, and they have had little success in the past 20 years, with a steep decline since 2002.
I think this would be a questionable move even if it had been made by one of the best franchises in the league, but because this is the Raiders, there's plenty of reason to think that it's the result of a lack of sound strategy.
