If i remember they also drafted the best safety and TE in the draft and possibly the best qb of the draft.

Yeah, we'll just pencil those rookies into the pro bowl right now. It'll take the Lions about 3 years to put together a respectable defense. In no way are they in the same conversation as the Bears, Packers, and Vikings.

The Lions should first worry about changing their losing culture. Crawl before you walk.

Well Dakota the same can be said about the Packers can't it? The Lions have the best Linebackers in our division for sure if not the NFC. Safetys can be hidden i mean look at ours. But i guess people just won't think the same way i do but i see the Lions atleast 7-9 (which i pick the Packers to finish at) if not higher.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Actually no my man, we went 13-3 just two years ago. WTF have they done in the last decade.

I wouldn't say old men Peterson and Farrior make up the best linebacking corp.

Calvin Johnson is a stud though.

The Lions are improving. No doubt about that. Big thing is, though, they still don't have a strong O-line, no strong D-line and not a very good secondary. I think that they're mediocre, at best.

They didn't have an entire overhaul the way Parcells did with Miami. Miami didn't just go 1-15 and then 11-5 the next year. They cut and signed nearly half a team and got a great QB thrown in their lap (If he stays healthy).

Lions will improve. And I'm not saying that because a 1 win season is an improvement.. Look at how many games they ALMOST won (2 against the Vikings alone). I already predicted that the Vikings will split their series with the Lions, too.

A 5-6 win Lions team is expected from me. I would be shocked if they did worse than that, and not shocked at all if they did better.

People seem to forget that the Lions gave the Packers a scare in the 1st game when Green Bay was playing good ball. In the 1st game with 5 minutes to go the score was 27-25 Green Bay and then Kitna handed us the game by throwing 3 ints, 2 for tds and the other gave us the ball on their 40.

The second game with 7 minutes left was 27-24 Packers, so if they had such a shitty team and bad players, I guess our guys sucked just as bad right.

Isn't it funny how people on here say our record doesn't show the talent we had on this team last year, but yet when it comes to the Lions you just look at the record. I gave you the two games they played against us and Formo pointed out they should have beaten the Vikings both times last year. The Bears blew them out one game but didn't take the lead till 8 minutes left in the other game. To think they did most of this with a 3rd string qb ( Mr. run out of the endzone Orlovsky) So what will they do with Culpecker or Stafford at the qb position.

Just some thoughts without the blinders on.

Your point is that the Lions got close in a lot of games. There's a reason for that. Their offense was playing catch-up in every single game because their defense was just horrible. (They got scored on somewhere between 25 and 48 points in every single game, except for the two games against the Vikes) What did they adress mainly? LB core and offense. They didn't get the Dolphin-like overhaul. They did get the big FA in like the Falcons and Dolphins did last year. They're nowhere near those teams turn-arounds last year.

Don't get me wrong, that LB core will help a lot with their shoddy run defense and maybe even with getting some pressure, but they also traded away their best DT and mainly went to the offensive side of the ball for the first part of the draft.

The Minnesota Vikings had quite some trouble with the Lions and had been trailing them. They must suck as well then. Same goes for the Falcons, who where leading by just one TD at HT. Same goes for the Redskins, who where tied with the Lions at HT.

And Dan Orlovsky was a second string QB. He got bumped down after Culpepper joined the team, but there's a reason he was starting when Kitna went down.

That's my version of reality without blinders on.

2 of the 4 picks were on defense #1 in 2nd round best safety and then 3rd round they drafted Levy from Wisconsin. So how is that going offense in the draft?
I can see the NFC north going something like this:

Vikings 9-7
Bears 8-8
Packers 7-9
Lions 7-9
