I heard this yesterday on ESPN radio of all things.. we are down to protecting flies?

Laughter is all I got... Link

I wonder if anybody from PETA owns a fly swatter or inspect spray.. what a joke..

Well, I guess it can't be said that President Obama wouldn't hurt a fly. The commander in chief was recently pestered by a fly during an interview. He swatted at the insect and killed the little guy instantly.

Believe it or not, we've actually been contacted by multiple media outlets wanting to know PETA's official response to the executive insect execution.

In a nutshell, our position is this: He isn't the Buddha, he's a human being, and human beings have a long way to go before they think before they act.

The killing...

I actually saw this in some program yesterday. At least, the fly swatting. He's pretty fast.

Anyway, PETA... seriously? Are they seriously complaining about a killed fly?... Now those things deserve to life as well, but still, a fly?...

Apparently, the unknowing insect had entered a "no fly zone".

We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals. We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals.

This is just too much. I'm at a loss for words over how ridiculous this is.

Flies spread disease. PETA would rather that a whole nation of children die than that one fly should perish.

(+1 to whoever catches THAT allusion!)

I wonder how PETA would respond to a swatting of a garden gnome. ;)

Guess i better throw away my "fly leg traps" before PETA comes after me!!!
(I use the leg trap to not damage their pelts. I've been saving them up now for 40 years so i can make a full length "fly coat" out of them)

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
