These kids that wrote that article have no more weight than you or I.

Fran Tarkenton is entitled to his opinion...I didn't agree with it, but it was most definitely worth hearing, imo.

GB's off-season would seem sub-par to many, I have no problem with that. You have that opinion, I disagree. The weight of your arguments are superior to the authors that wrote this article...to me. I "know" you and your biases, or lack of them , as it were.

As far as nationally, I'll barely go there... Instead, I will tell you what happened in my neighborhood this week here in Harrisburg, PA.

My neighborhood, being outside the friendly confines of Lambeau, would be considered part of the "National" perspective, agreed?

Well, Monday was Memorial day, a holiday. In my township, our normal trash day is Thursday. If there is a holiday, however, the trash day is moved back one day to Friday. It has been like that probably since William Penn was running the show here. This is way too complicated for my little piece of the national perspective. On Wednesday evening (and it's pouring-assed rain, btw) 90% of my neighborhood had their trash out in preparation for Thursday pickup. You see, one moron forgets, puts his trash out, his moron neighbor sees the trash, puts his out, and so forth, and so on.

My wife cracked this week. You see, I am stubborn. In the teeth of 9 out of 10 of my neighbors having their trash out, my trash stayed put. My wife asked me why the hell I wasn't taking the trash out. (She is from here, btw--somehow that seems important for me to tell you, lol)

I told her that the reason I didn't put the trash out is because I feel that Tavaris Jackson will be a better option for the Vikes this year than Brett Favre. She gave me that classic WTF?-wife look, rolled her eyes, and went back to whatever female stuff she was doing before she made the mistake of attempting to talk to her crazy-assed husband.

She didn't get it. My neighbors wouldn't have got it, imo. I don't know if you get it, but many will. I will be happy to discuss it with anyone that cares to partake, because I definitely get it.

I don't know that I get it, but I know I agree that Jackson's a better choice for the Vikes in '09 than Favre is. With Jackson, Harvin and Peterson on the field they've got terrifying potential - there's risk involved, sure, but Jackson played very well down the stretch last year and showed every sign of having 'gotten it'. He's no Brett Favre (nobody is), but their offense overall would be a lot more unpredictable with him under center than it would with Favre. Not to mention that with all the O-Line upheaval that nobody's paying attention to, Jackson's got better wheels to get out of trouble than Favre does.

Honestly, if the Vikes had hung onto Birk and managed to keep McKinney out of trouble, I'd say Favre was a better choice. But with that question mark you're better off with a highly mobile group of skill players who can do lots of things and keep the D guessing. Reports here are that Harvin looks great and they're playing around with the Wildcat - Jackson's almost certainly the better QB for that formation.

Then again, we're all forgetting that the architect of whatever offense they field this year is none other than Brad Childress. He managed use Ron Dayne in comically bad ways @ Wisconsin, and IMO is under-using Peterson. I don't know that the dude could get much out of even Brett Favre.

On-Topic: While the Packers' offseason may have thus far been satisfactory for many of us, if the criteria is utilizing all avenues to better a team, then they fell short in FA. Then again, they always do. Sure, the article's slanted, but I'm still waiting for the day I read one that isn't. All that said, as bad as our off-season looks in that light, I don't see how the Broncos aren't number 1. The one thing that team had going for it was a lights-out offense and a young QB with obscene potential, and McDaniels botched all that. Now they've got the Patriots offense as run by Kyle Orton (who does not suck, but isn't anywhere the caliber of Brady or Cutler). They're also switching to a 3-4, and so they go and get a safety (who I LOVE) who's only played 4-3.

So there's my criticism of the article, on its own terms. The Pack may not have gone out and acquired much to add to the team, but they at least didn't break what was working (I'll wait until I see that Kampman can't play in this defense until I see it, thank you).

Dulak how can you give the defense an A? You don't even know if our players can play it, thus the reason i gave them a C- tried to leave it in the middle but gave them the minus because they didn't bring in anyone that has played a 3-4. Like i said just curious how you got them as an A?

Dhazer - I was thinking more along the lines grading on the changes we have made with our defense and how I feel about those changes.

Meaning - last years D and coaches and personal to this years; comparing the 2.

So I rate our changes a A - even thou I would of liked a Dline FA grab; if we have harrell, jenkins, and jolly that makes up for it.

So ya my grade is based on the changes we have made; really couldnt ask for a better offseason when it comes to fixing something that wasnt working.

- getting dom
- having him installing a 3-4
- grabbing kevin greene and tsvoric (spelling ya)
- and getting 2 nice 1st rounders to top off our D

looks good to me

(this isnt the grade of our D overall) - I'll reserve judgement till we are well into the season.

Dulak.........you attacked the supposed "points" head on with some great points!
You said:" getting dom

Looks pretty darn good to me too!

I think a person would have to be blind not to see those as positive steps.
