Only losers post in internet forums but they're better than the ultimate losers who actually care what is posted. :p

Almost a good point.. Only if the anonymity of the posters was eliminated from the factor.. maybe they wouldn't be so critical. After all, their entire LIVES would be accessible for all to see, with minimal privacy.

I don't know this Vander Blue kid, but life isn't fair and isn't suppose to be. There's no rule that everybody has to love you. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. If you are soft and can't stand ridicule, then don't be a sporting star, because for every player there's probably a hundred or more people ridiculing him/her.

Gee, why can't people just learn to handle the situations they're in and deal with it. Too much babying in this day and age.

Good point.
No matter HOW good you are, some will ridicule you no matter what.
You better have a think skin if you want to survive.
I got picked on alot when i was a kid. Too much of a "nerd".
Should i go around whining "poor me! My poor self asteem! They hurt my feelings!"
You won't be able to withstand the REAL world if you can't take some ribbing.
Heck........some members here have attacked me. I could run off crying because they hurt my wittle feelings.
SCREW THAT

So, his decommitment from Wisconsin isn't him just dealing with his situation?

The point is the anonymity of the internet has caused a HUGE influx of 'bloggers' to feel the need to rip apart any athlete/etc. with absolutely no repercussions of their actions. The saying is so true.. 'The internet is today's bathroom wall of society.'

There's a fine line between coddling a kid/athlete and ripping apart everything about him/her. And there are no regards for such line with 'bloggers'.

Thats just it.
You need to take everything with a grain of salt that you read on the internet.
If you take everything that people that don't REALLY know you to heart, you will lose your mind.

As per what Cheesey said, I don't suggest that what bloggers do is okay, merely that one shouldn't come onto a sports forum and expect everything to be rosy. People DO rip into others because of anonymity, absolutely. That's not going to change though. The internet is serious business. It's not for the faint of heart. It's not going to adapt to meet the emotional requirements of a child.

As for young Vander Blue, decommitting is one way of dealing with it, sure. But if he's only doing it to go somewhere he can be loved then he's hasn't really learnt anything, and the instant he performs poorly and gets ridiculed, he's going to lose his self-confidence again. Hopefully this is a wake up call that this sort of thing happens in all facets of life.
