With the last few days, you guys can say good bye to guys like Tony Moll, Alan Barbre, Charlie Peprah, and Jason Hunter among others.

dude barbre will the starting RT this year!

I would hope that Barbre can win that job. that would be excellent. I don't want him to get it by default. having players win their positions with a lineup of Barbre at RT, Sitton at RG, Spitz at C, Colledge at LG, and a healthy and effective Clifton (a stretch, i know) for one more year at LT would be nice. seeing one of our rookies or young players win the LT spot would also make for an interesting season.

What about Geno? He's going into that most-imrovement-comes-in-second-year catagory and was supposedly getting good reports from the coaches late last year.

According to Milwaukee newspaper reports, the Packers have already signed a handful of players and invited a few others to rookie camp.

The paper reports the Packers signed quarterback Brian Johnson from Utah, offensive lineman Andy Hartline from Central Michigan, wide receiver Patrick Williams from Colorado, offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith of Idaho State and defensive end Ronald Talley from Delaware.

The paper also reports Green Bay signed former Northwestern running back Tyrell Sutton, wide receiver Kole Heckendorf of North Dakota State, tight end Carson Butler from Michigan, wide receiver Jamarko Simmons of Western Michigan, wide receiver JaRon Harris of South Dakota State and wide receiver Andy Brodell from Iowa.

Reports also say the Packers invited defensive end Joe Lardinois of North Dakota State, defensive end Rhyan Anderson of New Mexico State and offensive lineman Scott Witte of UW-River Falls.

I'm curious how does this signing work? Meaning does the pack pay all these guys? if so how much? or do they go through a practice period and whomever gets to the roster then they pay?

There is a training camp pay scale and it is very minimal. Something like $1000 a week. Still, it's enough to tide you through the spring and early summer. Better than flipping burgers, anyway.

Packers add troubled linebacker ... or maybe not
The Packers have agreed to sign troubled and well-traveled linebacker Willie Williams, according to his school.

Union College (Ky.) sports information director Jay Stancil confirmed the signing in an e-mail.

UPDATE: Stancil just e-mailed again to say the Packers contacted him and have decided not to bring in Williams after all. So ... hold the phone.

The nation's top prospect coming out of high school five years ago, Williams (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) ended up the ultimate college journeyman, spending time at the University of Miami, West Los Angeles Community College, Louisville, Glenville State and finally NAIA Union College.

The journey coincided with well-documented problems off the field, including 11 arrests in high school; a recruiting visit to Florida that ended in being questioned by police; a transfer from Miami after he failed to earn a starting job; and an arrest for marijuana possession that ended his career at Louisville after only three games.

The Packers reportedly traveled to Union to watch Williams practice and also attended his pro-day workout at Eastern Kentucky. He was not drafted.

He set a single-season school record for tackles last season with 144 and was named first-team all-conference.
