Was Madden retiring after Brett a coincidence? Maybe so. But maybe not.

Let's be real - NOBODY played the game like Brett, and I think with the recent trends in football, nobody will again. The gunslinger is a thing of the past. It's a shame. And Madden knew it.

Going to miss Madden too. How he'd go off for several minutes on the way sweat comes down an OT's face was classic. Plus, he actually knew everything that was going on in a play. I don't think any other announcer compared with that.

There was a reason he consistently coached winning teams. The guy knew football.

Football won't be the same.

That's just an amazing percentage.

Maybe he went to deep into disecting plays and got repetative. I have heared him say bootleg about 4 times while talking about one play for instance.

Like you said though, he knows what's going on. I very often feel like he doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Like I said in my previous post, great commentator and he will be missed on sundays.

There is one good thing in all of this though. Collinsworth will be replacing him. Next to Madden, he is my favorite announcer and one of the handfull or so that I know by name. Great move.

Cris Collinsworth is going to replace him... I literally yelled out "NOOO!" when I saw that. So our first Packer game this season will be tainted with Collinsworth's stupid random remarks.

Let's hope Al Michaels doesn't let Cris get away with all of the terrible false information he spurs out during games.

Rock - That's absolutely amazing. My personal opinion, the best Coach today is the evil Belichick.

NE Total 102 42 0 .708 14 3 .824
Total 138 86 0 .616 15 4 .789

(1st set of #s is regular season and the 2nd is Playoffs)

What's weird with Belichick is how good he is in the post season. Freaking amazing. Of course it helps now that he's got the best player in the NFL as his QB. His Cleveland record was a very pedestrian .450.

As good as Belichick is, Madden beats him.

I saw Madden in person twice. Once whiule eating in a mexican restaurant near his home in Alamo, CA. And the other was when I was about to tee off at Pebble Beach. He was in the group ahead of me. Got to shake his hand. Biggest hand I ever say. Everything on him was big. It even struck me how big his earlobes were.

But man, what a nice guy. Very humble and never really comfortable with the spot light. And as you guys have said, one of the true msters of the coaching arena.

Boom!

He is a young 73 years of age, and that is about right for owning a team in the NFL.

Love to see him take controlling interest in the Raidahhs.

Good for him.

Let him enjoy his time now..

I find it funny the year Brett retires, Madden does too..

I used to like him as a commentator but the last few years he seemed like he was off in his own little world. He had 2 great careers, wonder if its possible to be in canton twice?

Little side note wouldn't it be funny to have Brett do Sunday night football, I think it would be awesome to see him in GB opening weekend.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
