Two cut: While meeting with reporters, McCarthy acknowledged that the Packers had cut rookie punter Adam Graessle and first-year nose tackle Brian Soi.

There he goes. I wonder who we will keept at NT, though. Just having Raji and Pickett there seems awfully dangerous, especially if both of them are starters (DE and NT).

I guess Johnny Jolly has the size and weigth and we have another kid on the roster who's listed as NT, althoug he does sound a little light and small. Anthony Toribio. 304 LBS, 6'1.

listening to his press release now - interesting that they cut those 2 guys. Glad it was those 2 instead of some others

We have to start making room to sign picks.. some of these young players were given a shot to shine.. if they didn't stand out in the rookie mini camp and a couple of these other offseason camps.. they will be released soon.

Having a single position 3 deep isnt risky, i think people are still considering the NT like a DT in a 3-4, where you need about 5-6 guys on the roster for that position. I think we'll see a couple NTs on the PS, or one unknown signed to the active roster.

Dean Muhtadi
Anthony Toribio

Are also listed as NT candidates. Really i dont think you can find 3, prototypical NT's to stock your roster with, these are pretty rare athleates so you'll see that 3rd string guy as someone who can step in and play other positions(DE) which is why jolly will be listed as the #3 NT.

Biggest thing for me was that Jolly is listed as a DE. He could still play NT, I guess, since he is 310. From what I've seen so far, both Raji and Pickett will be starters, meaning that you can hardly see that as depth at a position.

Then we have the other two guys. One is pretty undersized and underweigth for the position (see my last post), although it still is a possibility. The other one is a NT/DE and that's with a reason. He doesn't have the weight by far. He's 6'3 and 295 LBS. That's less than Cullen Jenkins. Maybe he has the frame to put on some weigth, but I still remember the way that went with Foster's favorite.

I don't think that we'll need 6 players to have decent depth, 3 is enough, maybe stash one on the practice squad. It just doesn't look that impressive to me right now.

First off Harrell would be a better NT than Jolly. Jolly should stay in one gap. Harrell is also better in one gap but can also play two gap.

Also I think your making too big of a deal about weight... "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog"

I tend to forget that we even have Harrell on the roster. You're right, though. Harrell would make a viable NT.

The thing about the weigth is this. I can't think of a NT under 310 pounds. The smallest NT on the Ravens' roster is 315. The smallest one on the Jets roster is 320. The smallest one on the 49ers roster is 317 and they're not even succesfull. I can live with anything over 310, although 325 and over is perfect for me. 295 is way too much of a reach for me. Anything under 310 is for me.

A lot of numbers in this post, but you get my point.
