I seen a Cutler for Rodgers thread on another board and it got me thinking.

Aaron's season last year, beginners luck? His peak? Or sign of things to come? I'm curious as to what YOU think and hopefully get some input on it as well.

I think he clearly has room to improve and that's a good thing. He played very well last year, but he needs to play better in the final minutes of the game and I think he needs to get rid of the ball a lot faster. Those are the two areas I think he'll probably work on this off season. I suspect McCarthy will go over film of the final minutes of games with him.

As far as comparisons....

I think he and Jay Cutler are about 3A and 3B on where I would rate QB's for the future.

I think Matt Ryan has the best future ahead of him. He reminds me of Brett Favre AND Peyton Manning so that's a scary combination.

Rodgers and Cutler are tough. I would've put Cutler over Rodgers prior to this off season, but I think the shake down in Denver could end up effecting Cutler a great deal. He seems like a guy with an ego and I think that can be a big problem or a big positive. We'll see.

I'd rate it like this

1. Matt Ryan
2. Phillip Rivers
3. Aaron Rodgers
4. Jay Cutler
5. Matt Cassel

Big Ben and Eli won Super Bowls so I think they're already pretty much established winners. Rivers you can argue, but he hasn't started as many games as the other two. He sat for two years actually.

Out of that list I'd have to put Ryan at 4 or 5. His #'s weren't terribly impressive.

I would put Rodgers and Rivers tied for first and then Cutler.
Finishing at the bottom would be Cassel.

I'm thinking long term. Ryan was just a rookie last year. I hate to think of what Rodgers would've done his rookie year.

He would've been horrible, as we had a horrible team.

Ryan, however, had quite a team in place and that's pretty unique. It's not that often that an elite QB so early in the draft while having one of the better teams in place (Due to FA and OT in 1st round).

I do think he has alot of upside though, he might go pretty far. On the other side, he might already be at his ceiling or close to it. (Unlikely as it seems now).

I'll say it now - AR is the most underrated QB in the NFL. Give the guy some time, and he will not only be Pro Bowl but All-Pro. The OL needs to give him one more second. That's all I ask.

rodgers need to put a little muscle on this off-season - so he can take the hits ...

You see how many sacks were allowed on the titans? what was it 8? ... nice - I realize its part the QBs responsability since depends on how long he holds the ball. But 8 is a nice #

Less times eating dirt ... and less shoulder problems ... ya lets get our Oline going

Actually i think this is funny Rodgers is the best qb in the nfl i guess ok i will jump on board with you guys i mean hell he has done the most with the least amount of talent on his team. Our Wrs suck if it wasn't for Rodgers and we would have been 19-0 if it wasn't for our defense and o-line. There does this make you guys feel better? Hell i said i would take him on my team but that wasn't good enough for you guys well maybe this pic will help lol.

Nobody said he's the best QB in the league. Our WRs are great, no one has ever claimed otherwise.

But the universal train of thought here goes: Rodgers > Cassel. And apparently to you than means we have the worst WRs in the league and Rodgers is the best QB. But you're making points that entirely contradict what you say. You say our WRs stats are about equal to their WRs stats, why compare WR stats when you can compare QB stats. Rodgers got way better than Cassel. But we all know stats don't measure everything.

I mean, when you are on the losing side of the argument you go all "woman during mensturation" on us. Please respond to this message without said attitude.

I agree I think rodgers really started to improve as the season went on - there are some things that did not improve.

ie our Oline (got worse IMO).
D - once jenkins and barnett went out our front 7 went down the tubes (how many games did we win once barnett went out? was it 2?)

our secondary still kicked ass though the season less int the later 1/2 but still kicked butt.

RBs were still a force thoughout the season IMO ...
