Neither of them are worth are first round pick unless it's a straight up trade. That's just downright ridiculous.

Do we know if Peppers can play from the outside coming from an upright position?

Do we know if he can drop into a zone?

We know he can't anchor the point of attack that will be required in a 3-4... the book on Peppers was run directly at him.

With that, IMO, the risk would have been great if we just signed him a a UFA.. but now, giving up a premium pick to get the rights to hand him over a brinks truck worth of cash.

Haynesworth got 41 million guaranteed, you think Peppers, whom has a pretty clean history compared to Albert is going to settle for 30 Million.. I think that is wishful thinking..

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Peppers in the Green and Gold, without a single doubt.

But at some points the cost of such an endeavor outweigh the potential returns... you are absolutely correct that the #9 pick will have some risk to it. And no, I don't like handing a fortune over to an unproven player.. albeit, if we do are job correctly.. we will mitigate that risk by choosing wisely.

Riskier than I would like.. if we knew 100% that Peppers would play to the level capable and make the transition with great success I would be more in favor.. as it is.. too much risk verse potential reward.

Everyone new Bob Sanders and others were lame ducks weeks before it happen. Everyone new the team was going after a 3-4 coach and it would take a shake up on that side of the ball to change schemes. GB can downplay their change all they want, but they know it's significant.

As for the rumors

Neither trade would happen IMO.

I think the Packers could offer a 2nd and KC would take it straight up for Tony G because Piloi comes from the Belichick regime and NE values second round picks like bars of gold.

They may even take something like a 3rd and a 5th for Tony G.

To get Peppers all you have to do is give No. 9. Carolina will not get that good of an offer from anyone else.

The best offer I think they'd get is a New England's first and one of their seconds.

See what I just did....

I say no to both of them....I don't want to lose Al Harris, and plus we would have to pay big money for a top 5 pick.

Just read this

http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+Way+We+Hear+It/Audibles/2009/audibles2401.htm

I could see Julius Peppers going to the Packers or the Broncos. They are both moving to 3-4 fronts. He could make the kind of impact in Green Bay that Reggie White did. I know wed love to have him, but I think the market will be too rich. The Packers have always managed the cap well. The Broncos just freed up a bunch of room (before the start of free agency). I think youll see a big market emerge, and the Panthers will wind up back in the first round. If the Chiefs can get what they did (from Minnesota) for Jared Allen, what is Peppers worth?

Broncos can't have much money left.

I don't want to get peppers. I can just imagine the kind of money he'd command. enough so that we wouldn't be able to re-sign many of our guys such as Kampman, Collins, and one Greg Jennings.

Peppers could play DE in the base and OLB on passing downs, which would help Kampmann. The only way I would trade the first away is if we traded back and added a second.

I think the Panthers are really pinched against the cap. They made their choice by signing Gross. Peppers got franchised so they wouldn't lose him for nothing. I'm not sure the date in which you need to be under the cap, but if we could hold out on the trade, they may end up having to cut him.

It seems to me that if we could get Peppers without trading, Uncle Ted the scrooge would look pretty shrewd. Isn't that how Woodson ended up here, we were the only team with money left?

I don't think Peppers could get the job done as DE in a 3-4.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
