Holliday is a 3-4 DE with good leadership qualities. And it's not like we'd have to break the bank to sign him. I don't really see what the down side of at least talking to him is. Plus he loves Capers.

I agree. We dump Cole and Washington and pick up Vonnie and Igor and we have a better fit in this defense. I think having a guy like Holliday that played in this scheme for Capers would be outstanding.

I think this goes with TT's "good fit" thought process. Better to me than say NY who pays Canty big bucks and they already have three other pretty good DE's. You want quality and depth but I can't see how you can justify the cost for one position like that.

He's also a former Packer, a good guy, and a lockerroom leader - all good things.

Him and Olshansky would both be very good additions to the team, even if they're not the sexiest options out there (and hell, at this point they pretty much are the sexiest options out there).

I was actually mostly serious. The Packers are in a desperate need IMO at DE. What do we have? Jenkins. Harrell and Jolly maybe. Vonnie would be good depth and rotation.

Taylor would fit as an OLB, and would allow the team to shift Kamp to DE on passing downs and let Taylor rush opposite.

We all saw what happened to our depth last year. Give them a call, and find out how much it will cost. Can't hurt.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

So i say this year lets go in with the team Ted Thompson has built for us.

So you just want to completely forget about this offseason? Just go into the season with what he has for us so far? We still have the draft, and FA is certainly not over.

Just go thru the draft and let him do his usual thing, as far as free agency he doesn't do anything anyway so lets just get to the draft and line them up and get playing and see what happens.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

There were a lot of contributers on this team last year that Ted Thompson got through FA.....people have posted lists various times for you, no need for me to do it again.

Boy after 3 days people are getting desperate. I wouldn't want either one of those guys in Green Bay. As it stands right now i hope Ted Thompson don't sign a single free agent so we can ride his train and see where it takes us.

Taylor has little fit this year in this alignment, yes he could help in nickle and dime packages with a 4 man front.. but with the money he will want.. no thanks.

Holliday could be of great use in experience of playing long the line in the 3-4 and helping others make the jump... class act type of player. Short terms assistance and would help with the transition..

Could the above front provide push.. hell of a lot more than we seen last year.. but cost to benefit ratio of the additions make it somewhat unattractive to me.

He would likely move back to OLB, where he was successful. Depending on who we plan on drafting. If he's moved back to OLB he'll easily provide a great pass rush again. He also has versatility to play DE when we do 4-3 plays, but he's not as affective in that situation.

Here is my problem with that scenerio.. by having Kampman and Taylor at OLB, they pretty much tip their hand to the offense.. neither of them will be great cover backers.. so they will both more than likely be coming most of the time in a passing situation.. now you are placing complete outside short zone responsibility on your inside backers.. and projecting holes in the seams of the defense..

Additionally, Taylor is a few years past that 06 season and he didn't play exclusively at the OLB then.. they moved him around on the defense and took advantage of his speed and length... does he still have the around the corner speed? Not by the looks of it last season.. albeit he was hurt.. but don't forget he tailed off in Miami as well.

Again.. could he help... yes, at what he will be asking will he help enough?

That's what your OLB typically do anyways. You can put them in coverage sometimes. But your going to blitz AT LEAST one of them every down. If you blitz one or none then you are virtually going to create 0 pressure or only pressure from one side. So I mean you can mix it up, but for the most part I want them blitzing.

Dallas goes basically the whole game with the 5 man rush. the 2 OLB and the 3 man line. You can bring them in outside rushes or stunts or sometimes drop one back and bring Hawk/ Barnett.

Weather we get Taylor or not. We are going to be trying to get a BIG pass rushing OLB to play the right side.

He most certainly did NOT tail off in Miami. Yes he plays as an end but that's not where hes going to create pressure. He recorded 11 sacks his last year in Miami under Capers. How is that tailing off?
