I'm not downplaying Rosenfels. I'm being realistic. He's just not that good. I think he'll do OK, playing the same kind of game as Gus. But seriously, Rosenfels isn't that good.

Sage is capable of carrying a team here and there for a game, Ferotte nor Jackson couldn't.

Lets not kid ourselves here, they will still be a run first club, but Sage gives them the ability to make the defense at least respect the pass and he has just enough mobility to force them to respect the pass rush lanes.

He isn't in the same class as Rodgers for instance.. but this is a respectable move.

For a 4th, to get a potential starting QB.. I think it speaks value. This is a team that is geared to win now.. Pat Williams, Birk, Hutch are all in that peak window or it is beginning to close... they needed to solve the QB issue.. this is a legitimate step towards that front.

I really wish I could share your positivity for Sage, my friend. But I can't. Not until I see him play a few games, anyway.

If you ask me, he's a younger Frerotte. Which may not be a bad thing.. but at the same time, isn't a good thing.

I hate that people keep saying that the Vikings just need a serviceable QB. I disagree. They need a QB that can take the game over when needed. Because, lets face it, as much as Adrian wants and is able to take a game over, he's also the ONLY player that can/will/has done it, thus allowing defenses to key on him and only him. The Vikings need a QB that can move around a bit, is ACCURATE, and can hit the fade routes without having the WR slow down to get the rock.

Is that Sage? I have no idea, but from the sounds of it, it isn't.

Anyway, just my two cents.

Personally, I hope they are "standing pat" with this acquisition. I really don't have anything negative to say about Sage Rosenfels, but at the same time he isn't exactly striking fear into the rest of the NFL. If I were the running the Vikings, I'd be thinking of him as a "fallback position" in the event I wasn't able to acquire a franchise-type quarterback. I reckon they could use a wide receiver or two, but you would think that the first, middle and last priority of that team would be getting a real difference maker at QB. They got him for essentially back-up $$$, and back-up compensation draft-pick-wise, so I'm not going to be surprised if that's how he winds up...a back-up QB.

If Sage is the key component of the Vikes master plan...

That spells relief to Packer fans, imo.

I say he probably is not.

Just to strike a little more worry into you cheesehead Packer backers, the Vikings were apparently looking to trade for Cutler, since he and the Broncos are 'supposedly' fighting. lol

Cutler, YES.

Sage, NO.

packerfanoutwest (7m) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (7m) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (9m) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (18m) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (24m) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (28m) : Packers will get in
beast (28m) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (34m) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (34m) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (2h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (3h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (3h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (3h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (4h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (13h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (13h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (13h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (16h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (16h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (16h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch

Martha Careful (21-Dec) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
beast (21-Dec) : I think a great running game will do that for most QBs
packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.
beast (21-Dec) : Oh, that's how you keep beating buckeye, with cheating
Zero2Cool (20-Dec) : There is a rule that if your name starts with 'b' you lose 15 points. Hey, I don't make the rules, I just enforce them!
wpr (20-Dec) : and then there is Beast. Running away with it all.
beast (20-Dec) : As of tonight, 3 way tie for 2nd in Pick'em, that battle is interesting!
beast (20-Dec) : Lions vs Vikings could be the main last game as it could determine division winners or #1 vs #2 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Or if KC needs to win for the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Right now it looks like the only prime worthy games are Det-Minny and KC-Denver (if Denver can clinch a wild card spot)
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : The entirety of week 18 being listed as flex is weird
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Matt LaFleur today says unequivocally "Ted Thompson had nothing to do with the drafting of Jordan Love."
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Apparently, the editing is what pieces comments together. That Ted thing ... fake news.
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : LaFleur "opportunity that Ted Thompson thought was too good to pass up"
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Jordan Love pick was Ted Thompson's idea.
Mucky Tundra (19-Dec) : Kyle Shanahan on signing De'Vondre Campbell as a FA last offseason: “We obviously made a mistake.”
packerfanoutwest (19-Dec) : Alexander’s last season with GB
Martha Careful (18-Dec) : if I were a professional athlete, I would probably look to see who the agent is for Kirk Cousins and then use him
beast (18-Dec) : $100 million fully guaranteed Kirk Cousins gets benched for rookie
Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : a lower case b
Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : The real lie is how beast capitalized his name in his message while it's normally spelled with
packerfanoutwest (18-Dec) : haha that's a lie
beast (17-Dec) : Despite what lies other might tell, Beast didn't hate the Winter Warnings, it felt refreshing to Beast for some reason.
