Favre wasnt our problem, Packers James Jones says

Team just couldnt win the close ones
BY JEREMY REEVES
jreeves@kenoshanews.com

For all the conspiracy theorists and/or Ted Thompson haters out there who still believe the Brett Favre saga last summer was a major distraction and set a negative tone for the Green Bay Packers to finish 6-10 in 2008, Packers wide receiver James Jones swears that wasnt true.

I dont think it was a distraction at all. I think the main thing with us is we just couldnt win the close games, Jones said before Sundays 56th annual Holy Rosary Sports Night. We were in the games battling and fighting till the end. (In 2007), wed win those close games. This year, we werent making the plays to win those games.

It necessarily doesnt start at the quarterback position. It starts with everybody from defense to offense to the linemen. Everybodys got to contribute when the time is needed, and we didnt do that and we came out on the short end of the stick.

I agree, Brett dealio didn't effect the Packers season. But I can't say I believe that because of James Jones who didn't play much of the year at all. I'd take it more to heart if it was a player who started all 16 games for us over someone who was injured the whole year.

Well if you remember Rodgers interview with Irving he said it did hurt the team, so who we going to believe here? Jones has to say the politically correct answer of Ted Thompson will ship him out to the Raiders lol.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Aaron might have felt personal pressure from the situation.. where others outside of the QB cooker may have not.

IMO, the impact of a QB on a team is over rated in totality... when looking at the end results of a game, more often than not, it is not won or lost by the QB.

How about this?

Jones and Aaron have different OPINIONS...

Can you at least acknowledge that they are two different people and have different views on how THEY perceived it affected the team?

Or you want to stick to the fact its all how Ted is the puppet master?

LOL

Well i will believe the savior of the Pack and say it was a distraction seeing he started all 16 games and wasn't sitting on the bench or injured.

Truthfully, I don't know how it didn't have some effect on the team. I know it had a huge effect on me and I'm only a fan. Imagine being asked questions about the Jets QB every chance they can instead of asking about how you and your team are doing. How does that not piss you off or have any effect?

I'm SURE it had SOME effect.
But the main effect of why we lost was our pourous defense.

the last paragraph is the important part of the interview. not whether favre was to "blame" or not.
i don't remember anybody blaming the season on the favre saga - at least not on this site.

Someone could see a little jab at the O- and D-line in that last part, but I asume it was just to make his point more clear.

I don't know if Favre had any kind of impact on this season. If he had staid retired, we wouldn't have done any better. I asume he doesn't play O-line or D-line.

If he would've played for us, he might've been sacked most in the league. If there's one thing he HAS lost, it's his movability it seems, which he would've needed behind our current O-line.

Obviously no one knows what he would've done. I don't we would've gotten a Lombardi throphy with him at QB or retired, though, so it wouldn't have changed a whole lot.
