I'm not sure Willis (currently) will get much big offers as fans are hyping, not too long ago, a team could barely get a 7th for him...

And in the games he's played well in, it was against bad defenses and with a strong power run game setting up limited play action passes.

I think the Packers certainly will keep Willis this year, maybe not re-sign him when he becomes a FA.

I am curious to see how this new kid does. Apparently he's as smart Kurt Warner and had all the physical tools.

And if someone said their expectation was to get a 4th or 5th rounder (especially a 4th or 5th comp pick) for Willis, then I would be completely on board with them. Heck, if they said 3rd, I'd be like, yeah wishful thinking but if he keeps growing shines bright a few more times certainly possible.

Its just that around the Packers fans interwebs (not nessarily on this website), I've seen Packers fans suggest that a 2nd rounder wouldn't be enough, some even that JUST a 1st rounder wouldn't be enough for him, as they think he's the next Lamar Jackson (Ravens dual-threat MVP starting QB).

And I just feel like expectations are possibly growing too big and fans are leading themselves to a disappointment.

Also, I thought Warner's speciality was his toughness, as he's the only QB that survived the Mike Martz 7 drop system long enough to make it successful. As it tend to lead to QBs getting banged up... and eventually did for Warner as well.

I have watched several interviews and films on this young man. He is a former hockey defenseman that didn't take up football until the 10th grade. He is a religous person, his number one possession in his mind is a bible. His favorite pastime is to study football plays. He is extraordinarily passionate about football. Very intelligent. Several scouts and coaches have used the term "laser" to describe his throws. We all heard what our own coach said about him. One thing I noticed about him was his ability to really figure out the geometry of the route that his receiver was on, hitting him in stride and/or throwing him open. He is prototypical size for a qb. He isn't considered a running qb, pretty much a pocket passer. Deep ball is very, very good from every one I saw. His stats speak for themselves, of course the differing rules and level of competition require extrapolation and speculation. He likes the NFL ball better for throwing than the Canadian one, and if that works to his favor, watch the hell out, as he certainly shucked the Canadian one just fine if you ask me.

For a 1-2 year rental a 4th is most probable. Still a nice upgrade from the 7th the Packers originally invested.

As an aside, as of right now the Packers project to be +1 7th round compensatory pick in 2026 for the loss of Josh Meyers. This does factor in our other free agent gains and losses. This from that compensatory cap guru over at OTC.
