Green Bay --- There is hope for tryout players in Green Bay. Last year, Jarrett Boykin and Brandon Bostick both were able to stick around after surviving rookie orientation as tryout players. Boykin on the 53-man roster, Bostick on the practice squad.
Here's a quick look at each player to sign:
FB Amosa: Made the team in college as a walk-on in 2008. Blocking fullback. Caught two passes in 13 games last season.
LB Savage: A defensive end at New Mexico State. Finished last season with 45 tackles (seven for loss) and three sacks. Actually had a better season as a sophomore with 53 tackles (12 tackles for loss) and six sacks.
CB Smith: Began NFL career as an undrafted free agent in Carolina the 2011 season. Also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks that training camp. As a wide receiver in college, Smith had 10 catches for 196 yards and two touchowns in 19 games (three starts). Smith may have the most athleticism of the bunch. At his 2011 pro day, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds, had a 40-inch vertical leap and bench-pressed 225 pounds 19 times.
WR Walker: Was impressive in practice open to the media Friday. Is Illinois State's all-time leader in receptions (250), receiving yards (3,565), receiving touchdowns (32).
LB Wilson: Had 63 tackles (eight tackles for loss) and ,a half-sack last season. As a junior, finishhed with 59 tackles (11 tackles for loss) and seven sacks.
