Isn't Aaron Kampman the same age.. is he worth locking up for the next couple years?

I understand the stigma around the 30 mark, but I think at times we focus on that too much.

My bigger concern with Peppers is his disappearing act in 07 and then the monster year again in the contract year?

People were frightened with locking up Cory Williams, isn't that trend in Peppers even more alarming?

Same with Haynesworth.. their is a reason that the Titans won't commit huge dollars to him after they tagged him last season... it is a huge risk.

I'm trying not to get caught up in which players fit a 3-4 scheme just yet - one, because I'm not a defensive genius (I know running backs, mostly), and because I'm currently inclined to leave that assessment to Messers Capers, Thompson and McCarthy. I like what Capers had to say about transitioning from 4-3 to 3-4, and I'm inclined to believe McCarthy when he says there's some variation to be had w/in a base 3-4.

Vilma didn't excite me that much even before the DC hiring and scheme change - hasn't seemed like the same player since he was hurt a couple years ago. I know the scheme switch in NYC didn't help, but he didn't stand out a lot this year.

Peppers is intriguing to me, but I'm not sure that he's a better get for the Packers than someone like Bert Barry. Seems to me that we could get more mileage out of 2-3 signings at that level than we could with one big signing like Peppers, but I don't think I'd be upset if we somehow got him.
