I'd like to have Peppers on this team but not if it's gunna cost us an arm and a leg. If we can sign two or three decent players for the price of one Peppers, then i'd go with spreadin the money out and goin with the 3.

What point do you actually dish out some money?

I think Julius Peppers is as good as a player as free agency has seen in a while and I guess I'm wondering when is the right time to pay for a big name player. It seems like a lot of Packer fans want to be cheap. I don't mind that at all at first and I agree with it while you're trying to find a young core to build around, but I feel like the Packers have that young core already and now its the time to pay for a big name talent. GB needs someone to put them over the top in my opinion.

I really do think this is the time to dish out some money. I'm just unsure about Peppers and how he'd perform. Like i said, I wouldnt be dissapointed if we signed him, I'd be excited. It's really just up in the air for me with signing Peppers, if it was possible. I like him as a player and all that I'm just worried we'd get into a situation where he under performs or gets injured. Kinda like Vilma.Peppers is a great player though so I don't really see that happening with him, even though its in the back of my mind. The $$ he's asking for would be a little too much, imo. I don't expect the Packers to do much in the FA anyways so if we get Peppers, I'd be satisfied. We really only need one big FA anyways. Peppers or Scott would put us over the top, imo.

Peppers is not a FA he was franchised so it would cost us a 1st rounder in a trade.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

would it be worth a low first round pick, if thompson traded down to, say, #21 overall?

As far as I see, Peppers would be worth the money in the 4-3. In a 3-4 I don't think so.

Could the team run it right with Kamp on one side and Peppers on the other? I don't think that would be a wise decision. I think we can get a way with a big OLB on one side, not both.

How would Peppers feel if he got told he had to play DE and not OLB?
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Sometimes you have to take risks. What if he goes to a 3-4, has a decent season, and performs at a high level for the next 3-5 years? No one knows the future. I'm not saying the Peppers is the one that is worth the risk, but at some point a risk has to be taken . .

So you think that we will get a better player then Pepper's with the 9th pick?? That's a big unknown. Pepper's is a proven beast.

Perhaps we will, but we just as easily might not. Proven players can do a lot for a team, both with their leadership and their play.

Mucky Tundra (18h) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (18h) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (19h) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (19h) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
