I agree, porky. Most of Grant's longer runs seem to come off right-tackle. He's an absolute dud running up the middle, and only marginally better running to the left.

Wasn't his long TD run against the Cows in '07 to the left?

^ It was up the middle, I think Kuhn got a good block clearing some room towards the middle, and Grant made both the Safties miss and then he ran it diagonally, so while he was clear for the TD he was running towards the left side line.

Also, Grant's first run against the Bears at Lambeau was to the left, and he got some fine yardage.

Nah, that was either up the middle or to the right, depending on how you define it. I think he went between the RG and RT, with FB John Kuhn throwing the key block to spring him, then he went left about 5-10 yards past the line of scrimmage. That's the way I remember it, anyway.

Edit: Damn, you beat me to it, AADP. At least we remember it the same way.

I freely confess my ignorance -- and my appalling lack of memory -- zombieslayer. 😃 I wasn't very observant during the 2007 season. It was only this season that I started determining to observe the finer details more closely. So my statements apply to this season.

When I look at the video of the running game. When they run right it is mostly a stretch play. Expect the RT to be 5-7 yards outside of his starting position. When they run to the left it is more of a delay handoff, and the LT is more withing 3-5 yards of his starting position. Of course there are exceptions.

That is due to two reasons IMO. First, right handed QB. It is easier to for the QB to move farther to the right for the hand off. When going left the QB has to spin further around, or turn opposite of his preferred direction.

Second. the build of the line. the line gets built for speed to the right and size to the left. I believe that is how they put it basically. They want a little bigger LT than RT because of QB blindside protections.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!
