Packers might have avoided nightmare scenario with latest Jordan Love injury update
Maybe there's reason to be positive.
By Freddie Boston | 12:23 AM CDT

Losing their season opener is almost irrelevant at this point, as ridiculous as that sounds. The Packers still have nine home games to come, and there is no shame in losing to the Philadelphia Eagles. But nothing would derail this team's playoff hopes faster than a Love injury.

While we nervously await updates, the Packers will make the long journey back to Green Bay. They get a few extra days of recovery before hosting the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2, and they need it.

Matt LaFleur's non-answer in his postgame press conference added more confusion and concern to Love's injury status, but an update from The Athletic is here to reassure us.

Latest Jordan Love injury update could be good news for Packers

We needed some good news. Fortunately, The Athletic's Matt Schneidman was able to provide a glimpse of optimism about Love's injury.

"I saw Jordan leaving the locker room after the game under his own power," said Schneidman. "So that's maybe good news, at least. It didn't seem like he had too noticeable of a limp."

Of course, Schneidman isn't providing an update on what the injury is or the severity, but the fact Love was able to move around under his own power is a positive. Had it been a more significant injury, there's a good chance the Packers wouldn't want him walking by himself. Based on Schneidman's report, he didn't need crutches or a walking boot.

Even if the injury isn't long-term, we can assume it will impact Love's status in the next few games, at least. Hopefully, he can play through it, but it's bound to affect his ability to move and throw accurately.

Love also appeared to have a calf issue before he suffered the more concerning injury late in the game. That's something to monitor.

Hopefully, we can get another positive update in the ho ahead.

At the end of the game, seeing how there was really only one doctor/medical person near him. That made me think it's not so bad. However, maybe it is so bad there is nothing they can do. I mean, once a person dies, the doctors don't keep at it, right?

I'm hoping for the best.

This whole situation just pisses me off. I think it’s bullshit that they had to go play on that shitty field halfway across the world. It wasn’t the field’s fault this specific injury happened, but still that’s some BS.

Hopefully he’s back in a week or two, if it’s for 6-8 weeks or the whole season, we’re probably f***ed.

Ummm, crap. When I saw the video of the knee "popping", I thought dislocated knee. I was hoping for just a little ankle sprain that would heal in 24-36 hours because yeah glass half full.

Dianna Russini @DMRussini When the Packers land, Jordan Love will get an MRI. I’m told an ankle injury has been ruled out at this point.
Right now, it’s just wait-and-see for more information on the injury.

Initial tests indicated Jordan Love’s ACL is intact. But there’s a wide range of outcomes based on additional scans, which will occur when the team gets back to Green Bay later today.

Couldn't it just be related to cramps? Cameras were pointing to Love eating a banana and getting massaged on the sideline. This is just me being optimistic given the track record of Packer players that had injuries but "looked good" after the game.

I think it could have been cramps or a tweak earlier in the game, but that hit at the end definitely did additional damage.

beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money

dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up

Mucky Tundra (27-Jul) : Golden with two TDs in red zone drills today
Mucky Tundra (27-Jul) : @JacobMorley Shoutout to Quinn Ewers for allowing Matthew Golden to be available when Green Bay picked.
