Again the defense was in position to make a number of interceptions. I am not a Berry fan, but having the schemes to get the picks is the coaches job...its the players job to execute....the coaches did their job, the players didn't. (Yes having P Smith in coverage is not my favorite, but realize his job is to force the receiver into a certain route, not necessarily to cover him down the field)
But as many have posted, its not the defense, its the offense.
1. The O line not stout to begin with and with out Bhaktiari, it is downright pedestrian at best. Our tackles were beaten like rented mules against high quality DE's
2. On the end zone replays, it is apparent that we are easy to scout in terms of our pass schemes. Receivers were rarely open. On the rare occasions they were, we miss 'em or the receiver does not adjust to the ball. Where are the picks rubs, slants, that should be a mainstay of any passing offense and especially one with an banged-up/pedestrian OL?
Stupid coaching on their part gave us a shot at the end, but the game was not as close as the score would indicate.
We have had way too many draft misses on the OL and DL and in a game like this, it shows.
