We have a topic saying something about does AJ Dillon suck now. I think we all expected more out of a 2nd rounder especially after his monster game vs Titans. But reality is, he's a north/south runner and that's it. He's also good at blitz pick up.
I also saw comments around the internet asking why the OL blocked well for Aaron Jones, but seemed to let people into the backfield when AJ Dillon had plays. I can't say this with any certainty, but I think when Dillon was in, it was pretty much sure thing it was a run. Even if that is false, the plays were more stretch runs than one cut go or just run straight through between the tackles. If you keep Dillon between the tackles, he's gonna get something. Maybe all he gets is defenders sore, but that's something. If you try to have him stretch or go outside the tackles, he's gonna most always get tackled for a loss.
So, no, AJ Dillon does not suck, he's just peaked and needs to be utilized better. I would say keep him running between the tackles. Let him get some success there and then when defense starts keying in on that THEN you give them a stretch run to keep them honest.
