That is a great question. I'm probably overthinking the whole structure with the Packers. Russ Ball handled contracts under Ted Thompson, but for whatever reason, I blame/credit contracts during that time under Ted. The only difference now is where the finance guy and HC reported to GM, now they report to Mark Murphy.

Before...
Russ Ball → Ted Thompson
Head Coach → Ted Thompson
Ted Thompson → Mark Murphy

Russ Ball would write up the contract and Ted Thompson would give approval as Russ reported to him.


Currently...
Russ Ball → Mark Murphy
Head Coach → Mark Murphy
Brian Gutekunst → Mark Murphy

I assume things are similar, but now Russ Ball reports to Mark Murphy so is it Mark that gives that final blessing or is it Brian?

Do you see the difference and I'm not just being difficult? I genuinely am not sure, lol.
