Let's f*ck over the colleges and their massive TV deals!! Here's how.
• NFL cancel the preseason games entirely.
• NFL create a minor league of 24 teams that play six games during the "off-season".
• NFL creates a minor league to allow anyone 18 or older to play.
• Kids out of high school and still choose to play on scholarship for colleges OR decline scholarship and go to the minor league.
• Minor League players must accrue two seasons before entering the NFL draft.
• The NFL can make even MORE money with this minor league and the students athletes can make even more money sooner and legally! This will also help the kids learn the professional game a lot. It also helps front office growth and could improve scouting.

Don't even try to find a flaw in my mastermind plan, you will come up short!! COME AT ME!!

I like the intention of this approach which benefits us football fans. Let me put this through my executive profit calculator ... and .... nope, it falls 10 billion short of our goal. Next!

Overloading the public with low quality football might end up keeping fans away for the real NFL games. It might burn out fans.

Colleges would be opposed because it kills their cash cow. In reality why are they any more "entitled" than the private sector? What if their focus returned to education instead of building the largest sporting empire? What if they didn't have to pay a coach $10 million a year?

Looking back up stream at high schools, it would be a financial relief if they didn't have to fund sports in general but football programs in particular. Some Jr Highs have football programs but many are private. The problem becomes cost to the participants. If the NFL would support this financially in a big way there might be more players looking at football as an option instead of basketball. Now inner city kids only have to buy a pair of shoes. (Exaggeration) For football they may not have to buy their pads and equipment but the more or less have to rent them.

You asked for people to critic your idea.
Is 24 teams enough?
Will they pay minor leaguers more than they can earn under the new Name, Image, Likeness rules of the NCAA?
Will they be treated like NBA and MLB minor league players?
If not they will only get the 2-3 star caliber recruits.
A problem with pay is that it might disrupt the structure that is in place for NFL rookies. To lure the best high players they may have to pay more than 2nd and 3rd round players get now.
Where will they play? It's certain no college will let them use their fields.
6 games in the heat/humidity of summer especially in the South might be problematic. More so when you factor in that they are 18-19 year olds.
Do we trust the owners to do the right thing or the most profitable thing?
Any way I am not opposed to discussion. We need more details before I can have an informed opinion.

Name Image Likeness -- Yes, and they also will be under a union which provides benefits.
I speak football, I know not of this NBA and MLB minor player structures.
Until the league explodes, and it will, they will commandeer existing football stadiums. College or Professional, everyone will want the money.
Players can be 18 to even late 20's. Heat will be good for them kids.
We trust owners to do the right thing which is to be profitable and that is why it will succeed.

This developmental league would also help the NFL with their nancy ass rule changes. They could change the rules in the developmental league before pushing them onto us in the NFL.

Martha Careful (25-Apr) : Sorry to bitch, but the headline writers in that section absolutely mislead, or don't know how to read. It is maddening
Martha Careful (25-Apr) : No thanks. Not a dependable guy to be in the right place and run the right route. Dumb as a box of rocks.
Zero2Cool (25-Apr) : Losing 2nd round pick for a one year rental, not ideal. Especially a headcase.
TheKanataThrilla (25-Apr) : Pickens for Jaire may be interesting. Definitely not sure we want Pickens long term.
