Aaron Rodgers opened up about his journey to self-love and how ayahuasca, a psychoactive tea containing the hallucinogenic drug DMT, helped him reach the point he’s at now.

The tea has been used for thousands of years for traditional healing purposes in Central and South America.

The Packers quarterback joined Aubrey Marcus, the founder of supplement company Onnit, on his podcast this week to discuss what this mental health journey has been like for him.

“To me, one of the core tenets of your mental health is that self-love,” Rodgers said. “That’s what ayahuasca did for me, was help me see how to unconditionally love myself. It’s only in that unconditional self love, that then I’m able to truly be able to unconditionally love others. And what better way to work on my mental health than to have an experience like that?”

The four-time NFL MVP went on to explain that he wanted to better his self-love so that he could give “unconditional love” to his teammates. This, in turn, would help better the relationships on the team.

“The greatest gift I can give my teammates, in my opinion, is to be able to show up and to be someone who can model unconditional love to them,” Rodgers said. “I mean obviously it’s important I play well, and show up and lead and all that stuff. They won’t care about what you say until they know how much you care.”

Ever since the 38-year-old admitted he was unvaccinated for COVID-19 back in November, Rodgers has been open about using more natural remedies for illness and now for mental health purposes. Back in February, for example, the quarterback revealed that went through Panchakarma, a 12-day cleansing and healing method.

As for the topic, this article and Rodgers actions over last couple years -- my goodness, he is really going hippie huh? lol The guy seems to really be at peace with himself and is happy. I gotta say, I like that.

I'm glad I did, as he literally dropped dead at age 43 when I was 36.
I can only imagine how I would have felt had I not tried. I would have to live with that guilt for the rest of my life.
I just hope Rodgers doesn't end up having to live with that kind of guilt.
I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I am with you on sometimes you gotta let bygones be bygones, but I have also had some very wicked family members that I had to distance myself from for my own mental well-being. Could I do that to my father or my mother? I don't think I could for an extended period of time.

But, who cares about that. I'm glad Aaron Rodgers is talking about Mental Health. I think it's important and often gets cast aside as phony.

I know a lot of families like this. It often doesn't take much to create discord. My hubby's friend hasn't spoken to his sister in 10+ years and they all live in GB. I have 2 surviving siblings and I will do what ever it takes to keep my relationship with them a good one. I hope Rodgers and his family can come together some day too before it is too late.

Rodgers, while a Christian, also wasn't down with what arguably has been called a Cult that DE KGB was pushing and still involved in...

And Greg Jennings has said he and Rodgers doesn't talk.... so he can shut out teammates too... so he's seemingly consistent.... and until we find out more, there isn't really a reason to bring up his family.

Interesting 🤔

Ayahuasca typically contains DMT, a Schedule I substance, making ayahuasca illegal under federal law. People have been federally prosecuted for ayahuasca possession as recently as 2018.

While the Ayahuasca plant isn't illegal in the United States, per se, its active ingredient, known as D.M.T., is banned as a Schedule I drug, the same category as heroin and ecstasy.

From my quick research, in America, D.M.T. is basically illegal and therefore you can't legally drink Ayahuasca UNLESS you are CLEARLY at a religious/spiritual Retreat/Event as a couple of religions won a hard and expensive legal fight, where their religion has used Ayahuasca for centuries and the Supreme Court said they legally can under the first amendment but only for CLEARLY religious/spiritual reasons.

Of course, Rodgers could of went out of country or to one of those retreats. Which the retreats I've seen listed, most of them look like they're on west coast.

Also, seems like it's following the marijuana route, where Cities are starting to decriminalize Ayahuasca usage even if it's illegal federally still (unless religious event).
