Why has it been so obvious to me and basically all Packer fans that we need help at inside linebacker, yet our front office continues to ignore the issue. And they wonder why we struggle against good teams. Our defense needs a consistent force in the middle. What a difference that could make.

I think it’s a little too late.

I would of thought it would be OLB with Z's injuries and the backups playing absolutely horrible.

The ILBers need improving but general the NFL's actions seem to generally agree, there are some absolutely great ILBers that go the first round, but if you miss out on them, the second tier isn't worth the huge investment and you generally just grab guys late as the position is devalued in today's NFL unless they can absolutely do it all.

The cupboard has been quite bare for a while here....
Perhaps we should have considered the holes in our roster before spending $10mm on a RB who got a grand total of 7 touches for 22 yards

That is precisely my point. Whether its Aaron Jones running behind a line which is being dominated, or Patrick Mahommes getting creamed in the SB (because of 2 OT out for the game), if you don't have an offensive line, interior DL, or LBs, it doesn't matter how great your corners and 'skill players are," a team is already behind the eight ball as the requisite skills are not present.

It simply comes down to capital budgeting, as Earthquake, amongst others noted

I still worry that paying Aaron Jones big money was a mistake, as it will make it harder to keep Adams and Alexander, both of whom I think are more important. Plus, it makes it that much harder to generally fill out the roster with above average-good players.

It will be very interesting to see what happens in the next 2-3 years with the cap, who they manage to retain and who they have to let walk. Especially with all of the weird stuff they had to do to get under the cap this year.

Jamaal Williams was a much better value, albeit not as high of an upside, and a more appropriate choice for keeping around.

I'm not certain, but more I look at it, more I'm thinking the Packers were looking at improving OLB more than ILB.

The Packers knew they going into the season with what they got at ILB, except maybe they thought Martin would of added something.

While they lost Z and Ramsey at OLB, which is what created the need as edge rushers needs a rotation and while they might like Preston and Gary, the depth behind them is horrible now.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
