I believe it was two years ago, when the Packers defense looked absolutely horrible in the preseason, mainly because they had to deal with scrambling backup QBs and because they did not handle or contain them at all.
Well the Packers got a new defensive scheme and this years schedule looks pretty dang set full of physical teams, one other thing they'll have to take note of is, the Packers are facing a good number of great mobile scrambling STARTING QBs.
In fact, depending on what list ranking you believe, one could argue the Packers are facing 3 of the NFL's top 5 mobile QBs in consecutive weeks. Weeks 8, 9 and 10 include potentially facing Kyler Murray, Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson... and the first two will be on the road, while the last one being as home.
Also if you're simply talking willing to scrambling, the Packers face 5 of the NFLs top 10 QBs that scramble the most over 6 weeks, as the 3 talked about above and in week 5 they'll face Joe Burrow (which in fairness, he was scrambling for his life, not because he preferred too); and in week 7 the former Redskins have signed the former Dolphin Ryan Fitzpatrick whom scrambles a lot as well.
So weeks 5 through 10 the Packers defense could be seeing a ton of QB scrambling... and there is also the potential of QB Taysom Hill in week 1 and in week 15 Lamar Jackson.
The Packers might need to go with a heavier defense for the first month, but then consider a system with a someone asking as an occasional QB spy for weeks 5 through 10.
