Jason Wilde said on the radio minutes ago that Adam Schefter could have came out with this news almost two months ago. Schefter apparently felt the story was going to break after the 49ers trade talk for Rodgers and contacted the Packers saying he would release the story. Jason also says it was the Packers who leaked more information which was substantiated by the statement from Brian Gutekunst which could have only been obtained if Schefter spoke to the Packers. Jason also said the Packers Public Relations guy isn't stupid and also said the story sheds negative light on Rodgers.

Jason concluded his radio appearance saying the talk of Rodgers retiring definitely came from him or his camp. Jason says this is extremely disingenuous of Rodgers to do because he said this off-season he wanted to play 5-7 more years.

Insane.

My understanding was the packers approached him to restructure it and then he responded by wanting an extension. If that's the case I sort of side with Rodgers, I feel like this current management are as egotistical/more so than Rodgers has been. At least Rodgers has done things in the league to live up to his arrogance.

I asked Rodgers about it, and this is what he told me:
“I want what I want! And if they don’t give me EVERYTHING I want, I’m taking my ball and going home!!!! WAAAAAH!!!!”

The idea Adam Schefner would hold onto this bombshell for months is unlikely. That's just not how the profession works. Imagine if Jay Glazer broke the story in March while Schefner sat on it. ESPN would not be happy.

I think the most likely scenario is that Schefner was aware of a schism. It seems like most people are. Schefner alluded to it when he released a list of QBs that could change teams in the off-season and Rodgers/Packers was on it.

I don't think anyone realized how severe this was until someone disclosed this info to Schefner this week. Given how close this was to the draft, I think it was Rodgers' camp that leaked the seriousness of the story. He wanted to burn the Packers during the draft the same way they burned him (reportedly how he feels) during last year's draft. Schefner, no doubt, broke the story on draft day as an attempt to generate higher ratings for draft coverage. That's my guess anyway (and all it is is a guess). 🙂

I don't know why he didn't break the news right away. Maybe he was waiting for more sources to verify? Maybe he waited knowing he was the only one who knew? I don't know. I also don't know why Jason Wilde would lie about it.

I suspect the plan all long was to break it prior to the draft. I can't imagine that this didn't generate a spike in ratings - particularly leading up to the Denver Broncos pick. Honestly, part of me still feels some (not the primary points) of it is overblown because ESPN wanted to spike the ratings.

Aaron is petty and vindictive so I believe almost all of the reports coming out were initiated by his camp. This is the same guy who iced out his family and his best friend/roommate for basically no reason. You think the Packers mean more to him than they did? Do you think they slighted him any more than the Packers did when they traded up for Love?

Rodgers is a great player and at times a good person, but if you don't think he's been planning his revenge all year I'd like you to join my poker game.

Then the rumors/reports that the 49ers offered the 3rd overall pick for Rodgers came out... which later got turned into, 49ers asked if Packers were available, they said no and it was dropped...

But that turned a Rodgers story where, one minor leak, two minor leaks, three... and the story is very very slowly coming out ...
so the story that's they're sitting on, is coming out with them or without them, and of course now the time to tell what they know or it's too late, so they spill the beans.

But really I blame the person (listed below) that started the false story of the 49ers making the 3rd overall offer, as that wasn't correct and was untrue and lead to the truth coming out...

But also because the person that started the 49ers rumors publicly was none other than Vikings announcer Paul Allen of KFAN.

So division rival starting sh!t, and it leaks a story that our team and QB wanted to keep hidden.

go.pack.go. (30-Dec) : That would be dhazer who was rooting for Minnesota
beast (30-Dec) : Well, Commanders are currently the 6th seed and Packers the 7th
beast (30-Dec) : Who was it in Chat, that wanted the Vikings to win (because Lions fans upset them) because Packers could not lose the 6th seed?
beast (30-Dec) : If Falcons win, Packers stay as the 6th seed and Falcons lead the NFCS, if they lose, Commanders 6th and Bucs take NFCS lead
beast (30-Dec) : Win or Loss, the NFCS is going down to week 18
Mucky Tundra (30-Dec) : if the Falcons win, how does that affect the overall NFC playoff picture? Does it mean that the NFC South comes down to week 18?
beast (30-Dec) : If Commanders win, the Packers drop to the 7th seed
beast (29-Dec) : Taylor still at it!
