My understanding was the packers approached him to restructure it and then he responded by wanting an extension. If that's the case I sort of side with Rodgers, I feel like this current management are as egotistical/more so than Rodgers has been. At least Rodgers has done things in the league to live up to his arrogance.

The idea Adam Schefner would hold onto this bombshell for months is unlikely. That's just not how the profession works. Imagine if Jay Glazer broke the story in March while Schefner sat on it. ESPN would not be happy.

I think the most likely scenario is that Schefner was aware of a schism. It seems like most people are. Schefner alluded to it when he released a list of QBs that could change teams in the off-season and Rodgers/Packers was on it.

I don't think anyone realized how severe this was until someone disclosed this info to Schefner this week. Given how close this was to the draft, I think it was Rodgers' camp that leaked the seriousness of the story. He wanted to burn the Packers during the draft the same way they burned him (reportedly how he feels) during last year's draft. Schefner, no doubt, broke the story on draft day as an attempt to generate higher ratings for draft coverage. That's my guess anyway (and all it is is a guess). :)

I don't know why he didn't break the news right away. Maybe he was waiting for more sources to verify? Maybe he waited knowing he was the only one who knew? I don't know. I also don't know why Jason Wilde would lie about it.

I suspect the plan all long was to break it prior to the draft. I can't imagine that this didn't generate a spike in ratings - particularly leading up to the Denver Broncos pick. Honestly, part of me still feels some (not the primary points) of it is overblown because ESPN wanted to spike the ratings.
