I'd also like to add that Ted Thompson selected Brian Brohm in round 2 of this past draft. I can't see Thompson using a high draft pick on a project as big as Tebow when the Packers have several needs along the lines and quite frankly they need impact players right now. Tebow is a project. He'd have to learn a new position and that's including QB. Everything Meyer taught him in college would have to be undone because his system is completely different to that of a pro offense.

Porky, I'm assuming that Tebow will NOT be used as a QB in the NFL, which is why I can see Thompson drafting him to shore up other needs. Either way, I think it's a long shot.

Because I'm bored and because I always find this interesting, let's take a look back at guys drafted at or around our draft position since 2000. I'll do positions 8-12 so you can see the caliber of player that should be there. Bolded players denotes a Pro Bowl appearance.

2000
Plaxico Burress
Brian Urlacher
Travis Taylor
Ron Dayne
Shaun Ellis

2001
David Terrell
Koren Robinson
Jamal Reynolds
Dan Morgan
Damoine Lewis

2002
Roy Williams (SS)
John Henderson
Levi Jones
Dwight Freeney
Wendell Bryant

2003
Jordan Gross
Kevin Williams
Terrell Suggs
Marcus Trufant
Jimmy Kennedy

2004
DeAngelo Hall
Reggie Williams
Dunta Robinson
Ben Roethlisberger
Jonathan Vilma

2005
Antrell Rolle
Carlos Rogers
Mike Williams
DeMarcus Ware
Shawne Merriman

2006
Donte Whitner
Ernie Sims
Matt Leinart
Jay Cutler
Haloti Ngata

2007
Jamal Anderson
Ted Ginn, Jr.
Amobi Okoye
Patrick Willis
Marshawn Lynch

2008
Derrick Harvey
Keith Rivers
Jerod Mayo
Leodis McKelvin
Ryan Clady

Of the 35 guys who have played 3 or more years, 17 have made the Pro Bowl and I'd argue another 4-5 are Pro Bowl caliber players. However, I can also find about 10 that are out of the league or hanging onto backup positions, so there are no sure things.

All of the OL taken in these spots have been good selections. Along the DL, you'll find some of the best in the league, as well as some of the bigger busts. WR doesn't seem to be a good bet, but that likely doesn't concern us. LBs taken in this range have done extremely well, but I doubt we would select a LB this high.

Welcome to Green Bay Brian Orakpo!

I hope we lose to the lions so we have a better chance at getting him.

So are we still set for #8,9 or 10 or has that changed?

The team definitely has to focus on the trenches. Clifton is near the end, so a high quality LT to replace him would be nice. The D-line still concerns me more, however. I like Orakpo, but he looks like more of a 3-4 OLB to me. Michael Johnson has a lot of upside, but we might be drafting too high to select him. Although, if he works out well then his value should be top 10.

The LBs and SS Mays look good, but if we improve the front four then our current back seven should improve by default.

Just watch this video...it makes you want the Packers to draft him (Orakpo)...Dudes a beast...

Benches over 500 lbs and over 600 lbs on the squat.

TT, if he is still on the board when we pick, and you don't pick him...I don't know what I'm going to do, but I'll be very very mad.

Non i was watching ESPN and they said exactly what i was saying they will draft him as a qb and the 2nd day of camp move him to TE and later in camp he would work with the FBs. The team would use him in a wildcat formation. They also predict he would fall to the 3rd or 4th round because he don't have the tools to play qb in the nfl.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

If he falls to the 4th round and we've already shored up our other needs, then I would consider taking him. Just for another playmaker.
