At first I was strongly opposed to the idea of drafting Tebow (I have a visceral loathing for running quarterbacks). But Dhazer and I talked this pick over in the #Packers Home (yes, with the space -- Zero hasn't opened up #packershome) channel last night and I am actually going to come out and endorse it. I don't think Tebow will make a great passing quarterback in the league, but his versatility could be a boon to us. Imagine, say, lining up Tebow, Grant, and Jackson in the backfield on the same play! Considering Rodgers' own mobility, defenses would never know whether to defend against run or pass. Plus I'm sick of watching Rodgers run for his life every play, so having an extra body in the backfield could only be beneficial.
Given Ted Thompson's rather idiosyncratic approach to drafting, given his belief (inherited from Ron Wolf) in drafting at least on QB every year, and especially given his predilection for choosing players who can play multiple positions, it wouldn't surprise me at ALL to see him go after Tebow.
