I'm pretty certain that a player can be tagged two years in a row. but that would get very expensive, seeing has how a franchise player is guaranteed at least 120% of the previous year's salary. since the price of a OL franchise player is $7.455M, he would be guaranteed at least 120% of that in 2009, which is $8.946M. that's a lot of money.

what I mean is that the Panthers won't have caproom to tag him again.

If we were to end this season in the exact position draft-wise we are in right now (10th), the consensus pick falling to us is Michael Oher. If you don't know who he is, take a moment and look that up. Suffice to say that I seriously doubt that Jared Allen would be looking forward to that match-up.

I am of the strong opinion that all things being equal, you are far better off delving into FA for defensive linemen and defensive backs (especially in man coverage) and looking early in the draft (we don't do this, historically, btw) for offensive linemen. Quicker impact, imo. Justin the bustin Harrell, for example, has been declared by all as a HUGE reach pick at 16. He finished in the draft prognistication boards (consensus) at 31. 31st pick in the draft for an injured player. The "HUGE REACH" was nothing of the kind, at the time. (FYI, Hawk was exactly where we took him---5th) DT's and DE's are MUCH less likely to come out of the draft and play difference-making football early on.

DRAFT O linemen....FA certain defensive position players... My opinion.

I've thrown his name out on a couple of threads. He'll be one of the most sought after offensive lineman. If I were calling the shots I would go after four lineman. Two on offense and the other two on defense. Jordan Gross would be one of them.

im telling you guys... the only thing you will get with Jordan Gross is disappointment. we would be better off just developing what we have now and spending the money elsewhere.

I think Jared Allen would toss Michael Oher around all game long depending on which Michael Oher he's facing.

A lot of people like Oher because he can be really be dominate when he's on, but he shuts it off just as easily and his work ethic isn't that great. Your not going to get Mark Tauscher or Chad Clifton with Oher. For all the critcism of those two, nobody works harder on the team.

Basically Oher is inconsistent due to whether or not he shows up. I recall Winston Justice having a similar problem and it effecting his draft stock a lot.

Oher is going to boom or bust in the NFL. I'm not sure what our coaches could do with him, but I hear good things said about James Campmen and maybe it would be a good match.

I'm very mixed on Oher needless to say.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
