I still can't believe pettine kept Redmond in while we were getting run over instead of putting in Goodson. How the heck does that make sense, mike?

I don't Pettine sees things as well from the sideline. He may feel the game better, but being down there does not allow you to see as well. Nor dispassionately analyst and adjust IMO.

It's a passing league and a poor coverage LB (on a brand new team) doesn't cover as well as the average Safety.

Yeah they could put in Goodson, but then the Eagles might have a field day throwing to their TEs getting a clear mismatch, and you could be yelling why did Pettine out another Safety on him, instead of a poor coverage LB?

Either way there is gonna be a mismatch (and Doug Peterson is one of the best play callers at exploding these mismatches), you got to pick the one that you feel better suits your team and when it doesn't work, deal with the fans questioning you on why you didn't choose the other mismatch that you thought would be worse.

I'm suggesting the coaches have to do what they think is best... (after all, it's their job and their expertise) and if it doesn't work, they have crazy ranting fans bitching and moaning no matter what happened.

Also you comparison at the bottom is highly questionable... one guy change can suddenly stop it? That's like magic... and saying he may be iffy in coverage and then suggesting the other guy is even lower because he can't do anything is pure nonsense as Redman is clearly better in coverage, CLEARLY... most Safeties are clearly better than a LB than struggles in coverage. Even the announcers during the game talked about how the Eagles TEs basically needs top level coverage and how most LBers can't do it.

The coach had to pick his poison... he choose. It didn't work out, so now we bitch about how the other poison would of been a clearly better choice by hyping up the other options and devaluing the option chosen. Despite most teams choosing a similar poison as DBs become more common and LBers less (or LBers that have Safety like traits become more common and probably would of been SS two decades ago).
