I find it interesting that GB was able to trade Reggie Gilbert for a 7th round pick but could not trade Daniels or Jones. Both players I believe have more talent.
...
There is certainly more to making a roster than a player's ability.

Yes Daniels is a surprise they couldn't get anything for him, especially since he essentially got a raise for signing with his new team. But maybe that was the only team willing to pay that old contract, or teams betted the Packers were going to release him anyways and guessed they could win the bidding war for less than his current contract. Or maybe the Packers got a low ball offer and just didn't like the optics of trading him for a 7th or something?
But I'm guessing teams thought Daniels was gonna be released anyways and might be injured and get him for cheaper and Lions were the highest bidder offerings him more than his old contract.
I feel like the 7th round pick for gilbert is probably conditional and may turn into nothing.

So we got two extra 7ths this coming year (which I consider to be priority UDFA players at that point), one for each Gilbert and Ty Monty.
Speaking of which, I still think Monty would have been perfect in this offense, and I'm disappointed he's not here and it sounds like he could be a big asset for the Jets in Adam Gase offense. Mike McCarthy and Rodgers never quite used the receiver out of the backfield quite right.
