What does this mean?

I would say that if they had a number of guys that could interchangeably fill the WR roles, they could keep less players. What is being talked about here seems more like they are planing on finding spots for a wide range of players' talents, which would suggest more, rather than less WRs on the roster.

I still think they will keep 6 WRs. You have a great QB, you want to make sure they have plenty of targets for him to hit.

It means they're going to keep at least 5 because that's how many are on a basketball roster.

You’re not going to go out and play with five point guards,” LaFleur said, via the team’s website. “You need a speed guy. You need a guy that’s got short-area quickness … we’d like to have a couple guys that are versatile enough to do both of those things.”

And they need verstile guys or different aspects they're looking for....

I can't look them up right now, but I'd compare them to the Falcons Super Bowl roster.

Adams is like Julio
Allison is like Sanu (was it?)
MVS is the speeder's Gabriel? (I think)
Graham is the receving TE
Lewis the blocking TE.
