I'll agree to disagree with you on Philbin.

What kind of coach is going to come to Green Bay knowing they will probably have to keep most of the coaching staff that is here?

Most coaches want ti bting in their guys.

Do we really want that?

Connect the dots for me please, because I don't see how anyone can "know" the new head coach will probably have to keep most of the staff. I think the only coach that might get a push to be kept is Mike Pettine and Joe Whitt Jr.

Aaron Nagler says that unless Philbin takes the Packers to a blowout victory in the Super Bowl, he's probably not going to be the head coach next year and that there's no guarantee he would be even if he did manage to accomplish such a monumental feat. Nagler isn't exactly an insider, but he does talk to insiders on a regular basis, so I at least give his opinion credence. I don't understand all the love for Philbin in these parts. What exactly has the man proven?

I just think it would provide continuity and let the QB run the show. No rebuild. It's not just Aaron that would have to learn a whole new system. It's all 22 guys on offense. That's all I'm saying.

When you are an assistant to an offensive-minded coach and play caller, you can only make recommendations. The fact is, we don't know if Philbin is the guy or not. So what I want to see is what he tries to do in terms of game planning and tactics.

What if the offense is spectacular against a defense that made the Rams look sick. Do I think it will happen...hell no....but what if they were really good?

I don't think any of us are "in love" with Philbin, but at least give the guy a chance and objectively analyze his work, albeit with a banged up O line.

And as far as Pettine goes I really like what he did this year but if the right HC candidate says I won't come unless I can bring in my own DC I'll be sad to see Pettine go but I think it ios more important for a HC to have guys he wants rather than having someone forced on him.

I'm not a fan of Murphy having the final say in hiring the new HC as it is I sure hope he doesn't start dictating who the assistants are going to be.
