Say what you want about Thompson's pick of Harrell, but the reality of it is if it wasn't going to be him--it was going to be Greg Olsen, and he hasn't done much of anything.
With the lack of depth we have at the defensive line, Harrell was the best thing. If the guy stays healthy, which he hasn't done, then it might be of some hope. Look at Gilbert Brown and Santana Dotson. It's not like they were extremely fun to watch in their first few years in the NFL.
But now Thompson needs to get some guys on both lines. We have great skill position players, but without the proper anchors--nobody will care.
Aside from Brett, the main reason why we were so good last year was because we had 11 hungry players on the defensive line that allowed us to shuffle through.
