Thanks for sharing, that was pretty damn good. I don't think he holds much ill will towards the Packers, other than just wishes they would have talked to him first, instead of going through his agent. I honestly think that was probably a Ted Thompson thing. I don't think Brian G would handle it that way. Either way, good read.

I have often wondered if the NFL concussion protocol is the best treatment method. Sam's story makes me think it probably isn't. I can't help but feel they are more concerned about the franchise and NFL INC than the man himself.

Yeah it's scary to hear that what the packers were letting Sam do is what cups called the worst thing for him.

Sam chose to leave Green Bay and go back home.
Sam chose to handle things his way.
Why is this a fault of the Packers?

I swear, we have more people slamming the Packers by any stretch without knowing what the hell is going on more than Vikings or Bears or Lions websites. The hell is wrong with you people? Oh, yeah, you think you are being "real" and being "objective" and not wearing "green and gold goggles". That's right. [whead]

Wasn't trying to slam the packers. But I also don't think it is unfair to expect that the packers would coach someone about what they should be doing and not doing in order to recover from their injury, whether they go home or not. My point was more so that it sure sounds like the NFL still has a lot to learn about how to treat concussions

We don't know, but benefit of doubt goes AGAINST the Packers for some reason. It's incredible to me how people do this while claiming to be fans. Do we worry so much about being called green an gold goggles that we can't consider the Packers MAY have done right and the player ignored it?

Too many players have spoken out in favor of how cautious Pat McKenzie is for me to think the Packers told Sam Shields to just sit in a dark room, no electronics and cry until you have to call your mom.

The Packers did the right thing by cutting him. This allowed him to focus on getting better and rehabbing his brain.

However, it is also reasonable to expect Sam to have listened to them if they did. He listened to UCLA about it, why not the packers if they told him the same thing. Again, maybe he needed to hear it twice, we don't know. I'm not trying to blame GB or the NFL. But the way Sam wrote that makes it seem that he didn't get the proper coaching from his NFL trainers, he gave all the credit to UCLA for healing him. Again, maybe he ignored his trainers and listened to UCLA. We don't know. I'm just saying, if he didn't receive the proper coaching from his trainers, then the NFL an GB still have a long way to go with their new concussion focus, and that is scary. Stop trying to vilify me/my comments.

Zero2Cool (28-May) : LaFleur on Watson: “Christian is doing outstanding. I would say he’s ahead of schedule.”
Martha Careful (28-May) : Bradshaw is a dumb ass cracker. I am so tired of his "aw shucks" diatribe. He should shrivel up and go away.
buckeyepackfan (28-May) : He wad all butt hurt because Aaron duped the media saying he was immunized.
