Not to be Pollyannish, but I think our defense is really shaping up and the more experience our young wide receivers get the more competitive we will be. We just played two very good teams on the road and were close in both games. Yes I know we got beat, but we didn’t embarrass ourselves as we did against Detroit earlier in the year.

Let’s say we the Dolphins tomorrow, which is a winnable game. And the Seahawks the subsequent Thursday. That would put us at 5-4-1.

We will have some decent momentum heading into the Vikings for a Sunday night match up. If we were to win that game, we would be in the driver seat as the Bears have a very difficult second-half schedule.

It’s easy to be negative, and I think we have justification for being skeptical, but it is always darkest before the dawn and it wouldn’t take all that much to turn this thing around.

I hated that we lost to Rams and Patriots, but I couldn't help be encouraged that even with all of our perceived issues, we hung toe-to-toe with two of the five best teams in the NFL. I actually believe Packers would have won vs Rams if not for the fumble. The Patriots game, I think we still lose if Aaron Jones doesn't fumble, but gosh, it's hard to not wonder ... what if we scored a TD there? It puts the defense in a completely different mindset being up by 7.

The NFC is actually pretty close.

That said, if we don't start winning games, and I mean this weekend, the season will fast be gone.

He then shifted gears and told the audience that no one had trouble imagining what he had just described but almost everyone has trouble imagining good things. (It's the old "I am not worthy" or "it's too good to be true" concepts.) I king of chuckled because I was thinking"Wouldn't we have seen the bad accident on OUR way to the auditorium? At the very least we would have heard something on the radio. And yet I accepted his story as being true because I didn't know why he would lie.

As for this team (and every franchise I follow) I always have hope but it is guarded hope. I have been disappointed 99% of the time and rewarded 1%. I remember hearing Bob Gibson was so disappointed that he left game 6 of the 2011 world series early because St Louis was losing and Texas would have been the winner of not only the game but the series as well. If a man who has had tremendous success over his hall of fame career loses hope what chance do we mere mortals have?

I think there is hope because they still (barely) control their own destiny...

The top 6 NFC teams get in... the Packers are currently 10th but they're kinda tightly packed and the Packers play Seahawks, Falcons, Vikings and Bears...

Plus the Bears/Vikings still have to play each other twice and same with Redskins and Eagles... and I'm sure the three talented NFC South teams have more games against each other.

It's not gonna be easy, but if the Packers still control their fate if they can win!

Those the last two weeks, the defense has seemed to start strong and get worn out as the game wore on and the offense started having very short drives. Giving the defense some rest drives might be just as valuable... have some long drives which take up some time.

But it seems like the Packers offense still needs to find it's groove with using Aaron Jones and MVS because others aren't stepping up for the team right now.

In order to get the defense rest we need to run the ball, or even play as a true WCO. We all know McCarthy has no idea how to do either of those things.

It does feel like the team is so close to putting it together. It's as if they're at a fork in the road with only a few options as to where the season could go:

If they turn it up they can clearly take the division and hopefully enter the postseason hot.
If they play poorly or suffer injuries at critical positions then it could be over in the next couple weeks.
Or probably the most frustrating option would be to have the second half of the season mirror the first half. I'm not sure how much anyone could take of this option. Winning games the way we escaped the Niners and losing games the way we lost to Washington or New England... Just ask a Buffalo fan, nothing is worse than being 7-9.

At this point I'm cautiously optimistic though. Here's hoping for a win tomorrow, and maybe some momentum and good fortune for once!

Winning breeds winning. Losing breeds losing.
As far as the Packers go, as Elvis sang, “Its now or never”!
If they are going to do anything this season, it has to start today.

They've always done this, where they fall flat on their faces early.

It's just that it's been getting worse, and the bounce back is getting rougher.

For some people hope is nothing more than a setup for being disappointed. If you don't expect them to win you won't be disappointed when they don't.

I'm with you, I prefer to have a positive outlook and think they can win even though losses may hurt more.

On the other hand some people just don't think we have a good team and/or coaching staff so it is difficult to be positive. Believe me, I do understand why they feel that way and I am not saying they are wrong, just that I can't bring myself to feel that way or I would not bother watching.

Mucky Tundra (2h) : Matthew Golden=DAWG (so load the wagons!!) !!!!!
dfosterf (18-Aug) : We do have good depth at running back imo. Still so frustrating. Bitching about it is a futile excercise, which I plan to do anyway.
Mucky Tundra (17-Aug) : Whoops, I thought Zero was saying it was a surprise the Brewers lost and not Lloyd being hurt

dfosterf (13-Aug) : a lower back injury
dfosterf (13-Aug) : Doubs says he's "fine" after injury scare. Some reported it as z
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

Zero2Cool (12-Aug) : zero help, dominated. preseason

Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : Packers LT Jordan Morgan did not allow a single pressure across 23 pass-blocking snaps vs. Jets last night, per PFF
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : With buckeye and the reasonable couple, we're currently sitting at 10
buckeyepackfan (10-Aug) : Just posted to re-up on our FFL.
Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : If healthy after, then thats all I care. Well, no drops would be nice
wpr (10-Aug) : I made it through the 1st Q.
dfosterf (10-Aug) : Just gotta figure out how.
dfosterf (10-Aug) : Could have been a worse start, so there is that.
beast (10-Aug) : Yeah, someone tell the Packers football season has started, seems like they weren't ready for it
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : Sooooooo many penalties
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : It may only be preseason, but this game is a trip to the dentist

Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : Packers do good -- eh only preseason

Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Had Celebration of Life for my uncle up north. wicked rain hope it dont come south
Mucky Tundra (9-Aug) : THE GREEN BAY PACKERS ARE PLAYING FOOTBALL TONIGHT!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!
Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
